besides the fact that my LO is being a royal pain in the bum lately and crying inbetween sleeps and not being awake and happy - ever

ive been reading through people's night time habits and my harry is so off the mark by the sounds of it.

he sleeps for 2 hours at a time - max, no matter what time of day. then he wakes up and feeds. and its been like this since he was born.

another thing - we're cosleeping at the moment because i dont understand how you know when theyre hungry before they start crying if theyre not with you?

at the mo harry will squirm around before he cries so i know he is hungry - i dont want him laying there getting reallt frustrated before he cries and only then will i know.

help? i feel really clueless

My little man has only just started to sleep longer than 2 hours in the last week or two and then we have nights where he's up every two hours like last night. We half co sleep as in he is in his crib next to me until 4ish when I know OH will soon be getting up and then he sleeps next to me in the bed.
He starts to move about making a few noises just before he cries so I get him at that point. He's normally awake but not crying yet if that makes sense. When he's cosleeping he rarely 'wakes' he snuggles into me and that's how I know he wants feeding.

Your LO is only 4 weeks old, it's perfectly normal for him to be feeding every 2 hours at that age.

Are you BF'ing? It could be that he's cluster feeding to build up your supply. Things should get easier in the next couple of weeks :hugs:

I know how you feel! Our lo just doesn't sleep longer than half an hour unless on one of us. I keep thinking we're doing something wrong as we're still having to look after her in shifts if i'm to get any sleep. But I think all babies are different. Our lo will go anything from one hour to five hours between feeds and we can't predict it at all at the moment, it's less predictable than a couple of weeks ago but I thought it would be gettin.g better! She's been having some real fussy spells and feeding a lot over short periods - she was weighed today and has put on loads in a week so I think 4 weeks may be another growth spurt time so hang in there! I keep thinking with each week that we might crack this......

fieldmouse - our babas were born on the same day!
thank god im doing ok - others are writing that their LOs at harry's age are sleeping from 10pm til like 6am.
if only i could get that much sleep!

thanks for all your help ladies! :)
