*i was worried i wouldnt be able to produce anything *

im not using the pump bc it can cause contractions and I am too early but I do notice that when I take a hot shower or bath they are just dripping with colostrum. I am glad to see this baby will have a good supply!

see i didnt get anything with squeezing or any leaking they wer dry as a bone. so i wanted to try it coz i so want to bf :p

Even if you would have had NOTHING come out right now it would not necesarrily mean anything, some women do not produce anything or very little until a day or two AFTER baby is born. They still start breastfeeding immediately and baby sucking stimulates things and makes our bodies produce so either way I think you would be ok

what happens if it takes a few days for your milk to come in? What does baby have then?

I was wondering the same thing. Will they substitute what milk Im not making at the hospital for formula? I really want to strictly breastfeed as much as possible.

IT TAKES 3-4 DAYS FOR YOUR MILK TO COME IN, BEFORE THEN YOU PRODUCE cOLOSTRUM  I guess if it wasnt there you would have to use formula for the time being

U will get the colostrum as soon as baby is born and this until the milk comes in is enough for baby x

the colostrum is enough to fill baby's tummy until your milk comes in. Their tummy is seriously the size of a marble when born. You do not need to supplement between the time he is born and when your milk comes in. This is a misconception and supplementing can cause problems breastfeeding once your milk is in.

It might take a few days for the milk to come in - totally fine. The colostrum is all LO needs!

Also not leaking doesn't mean a thing. I never leaked and never could squeeze a thing from my boobs and I exclusively BF until 6 months and continued BF until LO self weaned at just under 19 months.

I really wouldn't mess around with trying to get colostrum out until LO is here and needs it! xx
The suckling stimulates production too - so once LO is BF they will dictate how much you need to produce. No need to pump before LO is actually here!

if anyones reading this and isnt full term ,dont play with breastpump,u might go into labour

I dont really get the going into labour thing  Many women breastfeed their other LO in pregnancy until full term

I don't think bf is for me really. the whole getting boobs out in public etc I think will make me not be able to relax and therefore cause me problems.

A friend of mine suggested expressing instead, is this possible and ok to do as a full on feeding way?

I'd keep your options open hun, you may feel different baby arrives. You dont have to get your boobs out in public, and if you choose to, you can be very discreet if thats what you prefer, or find a room to nurse in x

I haven't noticed any leakage...does that mean i won't produce?

No it means nothing. I couldn't have squeezed a drop from my boobs before my son arrived and I BF for almost 19 months.

Expressing is HARD work! After feeding the baby you then need to pump. At least 8 times a day in the beginning, sometimes more even if you're having trouble keeping up supply. I did this for 9 months and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!
You can always try to express when BF'ing is established, just for when you're out in public. So many women seem to find it a lot easier than they thought as far as doing it in public. There are ways to be very discreet!
