I want your help on how to keep weaning babies clean.

I'm not weaning yet but I've experimented a couple of times and even with a small amount of food LO seems to need a bath after eating IMO.

I know they will get messy but I just don't know how you have the time every breakfast, lunch and dinner to wash the food off his face, hair, hands, arms, legs, etc etc
(And that's before I get to cleaning the high chair and surrounding area!!!!)

Do I just have to suck it up and get used to it or are there some secret tips to speed up the cleaning process.

I don't think I'll ever be on time to anything ever again, it was bad enough before weaning!!!!!

Please share your secrets...

My best tip is to put a sheet of newspaper under each side of the high chair, that way you can just bundle it all up and put it in the bin, saves washing the floor or wiping down some pvc every mealtime. I also try to give LO some cucumber or something watery towards the end of the meal as it kind of washes his hands and face of bits before I clean him up. Oh, and whilst I'm cleaning the table/highchair etc I give him a wet flannel to play with, so in effect he cleans himself lol.

Oooh that flannel tip is a fantastic idea thank u!

Anyway I'm like u, not a clean freak until it involves a dirty baby! Best advice is don't bother wiping face/hands with baby wipes as all it seems to do is move the mess further round the face! Iv been recommended to buy cheeky wipes, they r reusable washable wipes and are brilliant! U can even use them out as u put them in a bag moist then when they r used u put them in a messy bag which can go straight in the washing machine! Also get a DustBuster! I'm sick of getting the hoover out just to get the bits off the highchair! And get the biggest bibs u can find, sleaves and everything! The ones that are completely plastic ate the best because u just need to wipe them down after!
Hope this has been helpful, it's a messy business! We've moved on to finger food now which I'm coping with much better than when I had orange coloured purée spat at me lol.
Xxx

Yep just suck it up and get used to the mess :haha:

I won't lie the mess is one of the reasons we didn't introduce that third meal until 11ish, almost 12 months! I didn't want to have to change him yet again half way through the day so I just put it off and eventually I couldn't hold off any longer lol.

We do breakfast in pajamas and then put on new pajamas on after then we play for the morning and have a nap and then after that we have lunch and then his 'good' outfit for the day goes on after lunch. Then those clothes come off after dinner and it's straight to the shower and bedtime!

For the floor you can use a shower curtain from the dollar store if you're serving something super messy... I have dogs and they help too :haha: We have the ikea antilop so it's super easy to clean, no fabric to wash after every meal etc. just a quick wipe down with some soap and done!

Have fun.. you'll get used to the mess!
