I'm sorry to be back here again, I don't feel like I'm offering anyone else much help or support lately, I just dont know where I am going wrong :nope:

Posted a couple of days ago but basically the brief of it is that William has never been a very content baby, always seems uncomfortable, in pain, crying, generally restless, never sleeps very long periods. Thought Colic at first, turned out to be Reflux. Got meds, started to improve, then got Broncholitis. Between all this, he's not put on alot of weight, fallen below 0.4th centile line now, right off chart. Dr's concerned as he is failing to thrive, Dr on wed given us fortifier to add to breastmilk, so twice a day i am expressing and adding fortifier, im getting about 4oz out and then letting him feed from me after bottle and inbetween. He lost an oz sun-wed, started fortifier wed night, weighed him today, lost another 2oz. Thats 3oz in 3 days. Now he is down to 8lb 10.5@ almost 11 weeks. I dont know what to do, and im worried sick. I know he is poorly but with the fortifier i thought he would at least have gained the oz he lost. Could there be something wrong with him?

:hugs::hugs::hugs: what does your hv/gp think? How oes he seem? Do you think it may take some time for the fortifier to kick in, so to speak?

I was thinking the above. Babies change weight every day. Wait a week and then weigh him again. :hugs:

did he have his heel prick test all come back ok?

I'm not sure how long fortifier takes to work, they didnt say. HV said to weigh him Sat or Sun but couldn't help myself :dohh:

Done a pic of his chart, i havent plotted today as the silly Dr plotted him at 11 weeks on wednesday when he was only 10+3 weeks, so today at 10+5 he is 3.93 kilo's xx

^WSS. I would try not to worry. One of my sisters and one of my nieces had similar issues, would gain very little and would even loose weight when unwell; both of them ended up off the charts (my sister was fully FF by 6 weeks but still didn't 'thrive', niece was BF until over a year), both of them were quite 'sickly' as babies as well but no cause was ever found for them being so petite-my sister was actually born 9lbs+ but was still well below her birthweight at 6 weeks and only ever gained 2oz a week at a maximum after that, aged 6 she was smaller than most 3 year olds and the age 3 school skirt from M&S (the only shop that did an age 3) swamped her when my primary school introduced uniform when she was in year 2, she was the tiniest in her class (even smaller than kids in her class who were preemies!) up until her being 14 or 15 when she just shot up xx

Dont start me on that one  First one got rejected as sample wasnt good enough. They sent me the letter 6 weeks after it was done, this fell on Xmas. Xmas Eve, M/W came out and re-did it, but that one got rejected as she wrote wrong NHS number down. So last week he had it done for the 3rd time :growlmad: Only because he was over 8 weeks, they couldnt test for certain things (Cystic Fibrosis i think) xx

thats why i was asking. im sure its nt CF but growth issues and infections in the lungs are 2 of the more obvious signs of CF so def worth checking up on. Your doc can get him referred for a sweat test to test for it. I had one when I was little as my mum lost all her brothers and sisters to CF :(
