Income support.. update

I only started claiming income support like 8weeks ago.. And ALREADY theyve sent me a letter saying they want to 'investigate my claim' as if im some billionaire fraudster or something. So today i have to go to an interview with bank statements etc.. Has anyone had this problem before or is it just procedure?

I had my interview this morning, and had to see some woman from security & fraud! They basically think i lied about the benefits i get, when i applied for income support. They sifted through 3 months worth of bank statements asking me where money was coming from, and what it had been spent on! Asking me if FOB paid maitenance.. and her words were 'you have to see it from my point, i am the tax payer therefore i am paying for your child' i was like WTF. My parents are also tax payers who have paid thier way since they were 15, and still do now! Anyway, i gotta go back tomorrow with letter upon letter to prove i am not comitting benefit fraud.. and if my app gets cancelled i got to pay back just over £300. Just what i need right now!

Sorry didnt want to r&r, they might just be checking how many bank accounts youve got cos they tried accuse my friend of being a fraudster cos they thought she didnt declare a savings account which wasnt hers by the way they just asked her to come in with all her documents to re check her claim,

i got a letter a while back for someone to come out to check that i was claiming as an individual and that everything was correct lol. was nothing to worry about really they just want to make sure that i was actually living alone not claiming maintenence etc.

Haven't had this, but I'm sure it is nothing to worry about! They're probably just checking your claim because Riley is so much older than when people usually claim, if that makes sense?

Yeah they had to check my stuff. They also asked about 50 times if I was getting any money from FOB, assuring me that it wouldn't affect anything. NO GODDAMMIT! RUB IT IN!

Anna have you called the csa? they can force payment by taking it directly from his wages/benefits?

Yup, he's working but because he's at uni doesn't have to pay til he's finished his (4 year) course

well thats just plain stupid, surely he gets more than the £100 a fortnight people get on job seekers who still have to pay a £5er a week! GRRRRRRRRRRRR
