Hi

I have been a little concerned with the fact my mum gave birth to me (not 28 wks as previously thought and posted), at 30 weeks..10 weeks early.
We were talking today and she told me she had an infection in the amniotic fluid and an Incompetant Cervix! Never thought to tell me before.
I think my nan may have had one too as one of her babies..'fell out' but died.

Im going to mention to my midwife tomorrow.

Anyone know much about this?

didn't want to read and run hun, but sorry I don't know anything about this.
Best just to ask your midwife. I'm sure if it was hereditary they would have asked you (well everyone) at your booking in app.

Not sure it's hereditary, also I'm not sure it particularly counts as incompotent cervix after 28 weeks

Im not sure hun, but my mum had this too and had my brother 9 weeks early but then went onto have me and my sister at full term, and i had my son fine! I dont think it is but hopefully ur midwife will give you some good advice

I don't think it is, but I'm not sure. Like someone else said, if it was they'd ask everyone to see what family history is? Sorry there's not a more clear answer.

I don't want to tempt fate, but I don't think it is. My mum had 6 pregnancies and didn't carry any beyond 28 weeks, most were stillborn around 24 weeks (this is 30 years ago so they didn't intervene unless baby was over 28 weeks back then :nope:), and I am nearly 32 weeks and haven't had any problems (touching wood quickly!!!). Hope this reassures you :hugs:

Ekkk, just noticed I've moved up a box..... getting closer!!!
