........just a quickie ladies.

On average does anyone know how long it should take for labour to "kick in" after the first pessary?

Thanks in advance
xx

It never did for me :haha: I had the second gel 6 hours after the first and they admitted it had failed 12 hours later :D

I think it is a case of how long is a piece of string Jo. Good luck, can't wait to hear when baby is here xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks Soph - other than normal obs I won't be looked at again or given another pessary until around 2pm tomorrow - 24 hour intervals xx

I'd also like to thank the other 21 users who read and ran - your input is much appreciated

This isn't the first thread I have had to make a sarky comment on due to cba-ness so I don't think I'll bother asking any more advice!!

Hey I don't know chick but wanted to know the Answer! Good luck xxxx

I had the gel 3 times with my LO and it failed all 3 times!! Man I was so sore :(. Hope it works for you.. x x x

It varies, my mum was induced with my brother and it kicked off shortly after and he was born nine hours later. My friend was 36 hours from first pessary and ended up having a c section.

Hope you are a lucky one like my mother and good luck hun xx

Lol - call me a moaner but I wanted to hear things like;

"You'll have your bean by morning"

Seriously though, thanks girls, 7 hours down and having mild contractions xx

i think it depends on each individual.
but for me... i had the pessary at half 11om... the contractions started bout 2 hours later... i'll never know how long it would have taken for me to naturally have gone through the labour as they had to slow me down... i was eventually 'allowed' to have him at 8.06 the next night.
xx

best of luck hun will you let us know if the gels work etc im overdue and its nice to hear other peoples experiences i know my friend had 2 lots of gel and had bubs 4 hours after 2nd lot x x

Didn't want to read and run - good luck though. Hope it works for you soon x

You make me crack up

Beware people LADY IN LABOUR :D

You have had a different one to me then as I had mine done every 6 hours. Really hope it works quickly and we have nice news in the morning x x

I've been told to expect to wait at least 2 days from first pessary to baby (being induced on Friday afternoon). I really hope that it's not that long...

I only had 1/4 of a pessary with Lindsey and it started 2hrs later - she was born "naturally" 10hrs after it started, 12hrs after pessary!
Good luck!!!

hopefully it will happen quickly for you x

Hi, unfortunately for me it did not start anything either BUT there were no painful contractions either, so it was annoying, but not so bad. They will keep watching you and do it again. Since induction is a "forced" start to labour, it does not always happen according to plan but you will be monitored if it isn't coming along as it should Good luck!

For me, it was started at 10pm Sunday night and then by 8am Monday nothing had happened so they re-evaluated. They broke my waters (again) and BAM... it started...

Well, I'm still bloody here!!

Had the pessary at 2pm yesterday, some pretty strong contractions about 9 hours later which then stopped :(

I'm on the "list" to go to the delivery suite and have my waters broken but 1) that could take literally days and 2) my cervix is only arguably favourable to go this route at present.

Just had some gel to hopefully sort the old cervix out and watch this space..........

Thanks ladies
Jo
xx

Aww that sucks!!! I know my labour only truly started when they broke the waters properly (they did it the night before but it wasn't done right). Hopefully that will do the trick. Too bad they aren't doing it yet!! Good luck to you

Ooo good luck-I hope you get put on to delivery soon and it speeds up for you! Xxxxxx

It took several gels, waters being broke, drip and 3 days for them to decide it failed.
