Is this a problem?

Top of our shortlist is a name beginning with B and our surname begins with J. Middle name will probably be a Q but not sure yet, deffo giving a middle name tho.

What are your opinions?

I cant say Ive ever thought about initials to be honest hun :)

I'm not bothered. Think it might be worse if it was a girl.

I went to school with a boy who went by BJ. I think it's ok with a boy but I'd think twice if it were a girl for some reason

I personally wouldn't purely because of the connotations - plus at school middle names tend not to be used or known (in my experience) so it would be Bj

I also went to school with a guy who went by BJ. He was part of our friend group until junior high and I don't recall anyone teasing him up to that point.

Could be an issue as a teen but initials were never a big teasing point when I was in school.

Kids get teased for all sorts of stuff but their initials isn't usually top I'd the list. I think it's fine.

I'd probably avoid it, only because my brothers first name begins with B and his first middle name begins with J, when people cottoned on he got called BJ every so often and teased a bit and because he was quite sensitive it did upset him. If he'd been less sensitive it probably wouldn't have been an issue at all but I'd still avoid in case.

I would avoid that. I met a guy once named BJ. I have no idea if he was teased as a kid (but my guess would be yes) bc I didn't know him personally. I met him when we were both around 20 yrs old. And to be honest, even at that age my 1st thought was "Whoa - his name is BJ?!" And it privately made me chuckle.

Of course in your case, your daughter wont be going by her initials as her name. But, still - I think you should look for a different name you love in my honest opinion.

Our daughter was meant to be Bella Jillian (after ohs mum) but we didn't do it specifically because of the BJ initials.

One of our very close friends is Brandon James but goes by BJ. We didn't meet until university but I don't think he was teased as a kid.

I don't think initials would be a huge problem, honestly. If the initials were BJQ it might be a little different.

I wouldn't have those initials but that's purely because we call one of our sons by his initials so I would notice. His initials are ALB so we call him Albie lol

My church as a Deacon BJ, so I don't think it would be bad, but I don't know. I was homeschooled so I don't know how teasing in schools would be like.
