My DH and I started ttc in June of 2004. When nothing happened we moved onto clomid. Then clomid and IUI. Then IUI's with meds. I had an HSG that was clear. One surgery for mild endometriosis. One surgery to remove a polyp. We tried acupuncture, fertilitea, trying to "relax", etc, etc. Even though I have mild endo, we were diagnosed "unexplained". It was so frustrating to not have an answer as to why we couldn't conceive. We finally moved onto IVF in May 2011 and sadly, it didn't work for us. Thankfully we were left with 4 frozen embies.

I was devastated after our fresh cycle failed to produce a pregnancy. I just felt that there had to be something that was preventing me from getting pregnant. My mom, who works for a naturopathic doctor, mentioned that iodine is essential for pregnancy and maybe we should check my levels. So, I peed in a cup and gave a saliva sample and was shocked to find out that my iodine levels were non-existent. I started taking Lugol's iodine right away. I was planning on having a FET in late July, but one of the drugs I needed (Lupron) was having a shortage and I had to wait until August. While waiting the only thing I changed was taking the iodine supplement. Our transfer was on August 26th and I'm so happy to say we are now 6 weeks 4 days pregnant!

I really feel that the iodine supplement had a lot to do with our success this round. There is not a lot of research available about iodine deficiency and infertility, but there is quite a bit about iodine deficiency and thyroid issues.

I don't know if this will help anyone, but if you have explored every other option, it may be worthwhile to find out what your iodine levels are.

Tnank you for sharing your success story!!! Good luck! I will check my thyroid too.

I just had an accupuncture dr prescribe kelp for iodine/thyroid deficiency. Thanks for sharing.
