i'm getting Laila an iPod touch for xmas cos she just loves playing with my friends iPhone, she'll sit engrossed for ages (on age appropriate apps!). now i'm wondering, should i bother buying one new.. or just get a reconditioned one? i'm thinking it's gonna get dropped/scratched kinda quick anyhow.. what would you do? x

My daughter was 11 when she got hers and it's preloved.

I would get preloved.

V xx

Preloved here I'd say.

My son just got one for his birthday (11) we bought a new one , it was cheap with my plan I only paid 180.00 and the phone is like 650.00 but I bought it with a 2 yr contract (that is why it was 180.00 dollars) and for 6 dollars extra a month it is covered if something happens to it. I think 2 yrs old is a bit young for a new one, especially at age 2 they like to throw things, well my 3 boys did anyway. I would get a used one, I am assuming that is what Preloved means?
:flower:

yeah! i thought that'd be the best idea.. my stepdad started on about warrantys on stuff but there's a seller on ebay that reconditions them and gives 12 months warranty, he has good feedback too so probs just go with that xx

Wait....... Strike my post I thought you meant the i phone :wacko::wacko: I have a problem today not sure what though :blush: My son does have one of those also, he gave it to me though. I was saying to myself why would you get a 2 yr old a phone :shrug::shrug: I am such an idiot :happydance::happydance::happydance: I would get a preloved also, good luck :flower:

Would def buy preloved as I am sure it will get dropped, thrown etc lol!! xx

Yeah I would get preloved, especially if you can get 12 months warranty.
Maybe buy a case as well

ooh yeh, i forgot you could get cases! im abit of a snob  so was thinkin about the cosmetics (lol) of a preloved one, but a case would solve that prob straight away! thanks xx

I think you should get a pre-loved one. Think of her age. She maybe great playing with the phones and such, however 2 year olds are not very careful or very responsible. (For example they may break or loose their toys, and sometimes do not understand the meaning of being careful.)

They have MP3 players that are made for kids and more durable (even some cheaper versions of the ipod). Some of the kids MP3 players come with games. But it is completely your choice. I personally would not spend alot of money on a ipod touch for a child who is not old enough to properly care for it and keep up with it.

addie i understand where you're coming from but the amount of money i've spent on age appropriate toys that she just doesn't play with is ridiculous.. and a huge waste of space! i'd rather spend £100 on something i know she's gonna like. she wouldn't really be using it unsupervised so even if she doesn't understand being careful and keeping it safe, she will learn in time! xxx

I think it is an awesome idea then :) and it makes much more sense.

My son is 18 months old and is the proud owner of my hand me down 1st generation ipod touch. I upgraded to a newer one.

Getting preloved is a good idea. There's loads of age appropriate apps on the app store as well. Things like Lego Harry potter and stuff which I'm sure she will love. I think it would be a great way to teach her about responsibility from a young age as well.

I say pre-loved, Kyle will be having an Iphone 4 when we upgrade purely for the childrens apps, I have all the sing-a-long ones, animals/sounds, Little charliegh bear, Count down to santa, Shape games etc its great for when his bored in the car or waiting in the doctors

i didn't get one until i was 21
and mine's only a nano touch

i'd buy second hand for children though

Definitely preloved. I'm on my 2nd iPod touch as Elliott dropped/threw my last one several times and the screen cracked!!

Well for my husband not for our son (although he would love one!) we were thinking of getting a second hand ipod touch but price-wise it wasn't worth it... a new one with a £25 itunes card (which we would be buying otherwise for apps and songs) was only a fiver more than a second hand one. I know second hand was still cheaper but imo not worth it for a fiver.
