I was wondering about putting my 6 month old onto follow on milk due to the iron in it. However I have been told to avoid it as it's unnecessary. Though it contains iron which they need. So ive been told to make sure iron us in her diet.

So I'm just wondering what foods should I give her to make sure she gets her iron.

It's obviously up to you but I didn't really think that follow on milk was necessary either, first milk is still fine.
Meat is a really good way of getting iron into them along with wholegrain foods, spinach, raisins and beans.

It's now recognised iron is best coming from food. It's important to make sure vitamin C containing foods are had at the same time as it helps with absorption, also because milk contains calcium that interferes with iron absorption it's best to avoid giving milk at the same time as giving the iron and vitamin c containing foods xx
