Hi all,

Just wondering if its still worth TTC even if my cycles haven't become regular yet since coming off BCP. I wish I had came off a few months earlier than I did but honestly I didn't think I would become irregular?

Will it also be hard for the midwife to get the conception date right?

I dont know much about BCP but I do know about irregular periods, irregular periods don't mean you wont be able to conceive, but it will be more difficult to pinpoint ovulation. My cycles vary between 34 days to 60 odd days as I know I'm not going to ovulate much before day 20 I just start checking my cm in plenty of time and then when I see the changes (to watery first) I start using opks. It is frustrating as the whole process takes longer, when my cycles are at their longest I'd be having 1 cycle in the time someone as 2!!!

As for the midwife pinpointing your conception date, they will go by your last af and then once you've had your dating scan the dates will be adjusted appropriately. When I was pregnant with my son I was having a 35 day cycle and despite me saying no I didn't ovulate til at least day 21 she wouldn't go by that she would only go by counting from the first day of my last af. Was abit annoying but then I ended up having my 12 week scan at 11 weeks, and then had to have another at 13 weeks for the nuchal scan...so it actually worked out well because I had 2 scans instead of the usual 1!!! :)

Good luck ttc xx

I came off BC August 2012, my cycles ranged from 21days to 3 months, a pain to say the least. After 6 months of trying I went to see my GP as I thought they might've regulated by then. She did a few blood tests and found my testosterone levels were elevated (can stop you ovulating). She said if things hadn't worked out after a year of ttc then she would refer us to a specialist just to see what was going on. In the mean time she said to have sex every 2-3days. As sperm can stay around for a few days she said that would ensure there was a constant supply if and when I did eventually ovulate. Low and behold here I am 10 weeks pregnant! I had no idea when I ovulated but an early scan has given me an idea. I could've waited forever for my cycles to sort themselves out before ttc but I'm so glad we followed the advice of every 2-3days and just left it to chance :)
