i have a new fiat 500, ive only had it since august last year but its so small! the boot is teeny too!
im worried about getting a baby carseat in the back and also trying to fit a buggy in the boot.
not sure whether to change it for a bigger 5dr car?
has anyone else got a small car and are u changing it? xxx

I'm trying to!
I've an old Ford KA, and TBH, its falling apart! I wanted a brand new car, but I can't get one in my name (ARGHHH no bugger will give me finance and ive never even had any before )
But then getting a car which is going to cost £200 or so a month is a bit daft just before baby arrives..

but we're looking for bigger cars, but I don't want a MASSIVE car, i'd struggle to drive it :haha:

by sister has a fiesta, and she struggles to put my nephew in the back (he's 1) so for this, we're looking for 5 doors.

but i'd be happy with a 3 door that I felt that baby would be safe in (mine i just don't feel safe in driving any more)

We should change ours but cant afford to so we will have to struggle:wacko:We have a ford Puma coupe 3 door and we need a double buggy when this one is born coz my daughter is only 15 months. So to beable to keep the car we are going for a Phil and Teds pushchairs coz its the smallest double pushchair that folds flat enough.I do want one of those combination car seats like my daughter has that goes rear face and forward facing that stays in the car but i cant see it fitting when rear faced coz the back of the ford pumas are not very big so dont know whats going to happen as yet:shrug:

I was considering this as i have a really small car too and knew i wouldnt be able to fit a pram in the boot. But we went pram shopping yesterday and got a travel system and the actual base itself folds down really small so ill be able to fit it in my boot now.
: ) so no longer need a new car.
There must be something like i got that should be able to fit in urs?
xx

We already have an 8 seater Toyota Targo so no need to upgrade for space, however in March next year we plan on buying outright a 2nd Hand 8 seater Kia grand Carnival as it is much more roomy and my old bus is getting very old and sad as I drive school cricket teams, footy teams etc all in my old van, but that will be stopping once the twins come. We won't buy sooner as we want to pay cash and own it in outright so March next year is the plan. Hubby and I don't believe in living beyond our means so no loans, no credits cards nothing like that and I must say it is wonderful not having bills constantly coming in and paying interest etc, works for us.

i was thinking of putting in a big car seat? not the baby carrier ones? but im not sure how they work with a newborn in? they have to face backward? but i could put the back seats down and put it in through the boot and they strap it in and keep it in there instead of trying to get it in and out?

i want to keep my car becuz if i sell the price will have dropped loads and im used to driving it now. but 5drs would be so much easier!
i may go to mothercare and see the carseats they have. if i was living here i wouldnt worry about the buggy as i live a 5min walk from town, but we are moving to bath and havnt decided where abouts and it prob wont be right in the centre becuz its so expensive and ill have to drive.
hmmmmm.....

Yeah i would ask at kiddiecare. They allways have something for every1 and are very helpful : )
xx

i'm having to sell my car because it's a rally car technically and i'm gona struggle getting my pram in and out of the boot and since i'm planning on childminding too next year i need more space and something economical so we are looking at the vauxhall zafira . . . loads of room in one of those just not very exciting to look at !

I'll miss my scooby very very much :(

I have to upgrade my car, I drive a C3 and my OH a focus... we are expecting twins and already have my 2 boys live with us and OH's 2 stay frequently too!!!... only going to get a 7 seater though and OH eldest doesnt want to do much with us anymore so dont want to get something over sized. OH will drive my car as it's the newest and cheapest to run out of the 2 and I will drive the big one. We only have a really small budget sadly so it's going to have to be an oldish one but we have no choice.

I'm changing my seat ibiza to a honda frv. 6 seater car is ideal for us and you still have all the boot space. I don't like the fact you lose boot space for seats in some of the cars.

Hi, just popped over from 1st tri & saw this thread. Thought I'd comment as we've bought a new car as ours weren't suitable for baby as they were too small. We ended up getting a hyundai i30 5 dr & both of us feel much more comfortable with this. The other thing to note is both our cars didn't have good safety ratings in the back but this one has great ratings for the whole car. Go with your gut feeling & what's right for you - I had a friend with a mini get a pram to fit in but it wasn't what we wanted.

We need to swap too :( I love my little car, but we have two massive dogs who usually plonk in the back seat. This won't work so well with a baby - so need a grilled boot for them. Having a baby isn't cheap...

I had a wee Kia Picanto and I loved it! Sadly though, there was no chance of me fitting in baby, the pram. We also have a wee dog who goes in his cage in the car and my OH, who doesn't have a cage! :haha: so had to bite the bullet and get a new car. Could have been doing without the expense to be honest, but now is actually a pretty good time to look with the new registration plates coming out.... can get some decent pre-reg deals.

I have a smart roadster - 2 seater... I thought that I would have to change but I have found that I can turn off the front passenager airbag and have found a buggy that will go in the back - just with the wheels off! Really pleased!

If we are going out as a family we will take hubbys car. X

Hi yeah we are changing our car - I have a Mini at the moment and won't be able to get two dogs, a baby and a pram in - people already laugh at me when I get the two big dogs out of it :)

We ordered our new VW Tiguan yesterday and now have to wait 8-12 weeks to get it delivered - can't wait!

We had an old Ford Focus (i think it was a 99) and it kept stalling and was only 3 doors so we got a 2007 Ford Mondeo, which is plenty big for the little one, but feels like im driving around in a stretch limo sometimes because its so long and i kinda miss my old focus.

we were going to buy a new car but then we realised that we could fit all the car seats (my 3yr olds booster my 18mo olds seat and the infant seat) in as long as we don't use the infant base. it's safe to do that btw and this way we don't have to buy a new car as we just bought this one last year. but we will probably trade this one in next year for something bigger. once the new baby is in a forward facing carseat there won't be enough room for all of them to safely fit.

i had to get a new car. my old one the carseat didnt fit very well and wobbled, i also wanted an isofix base which my car wouldnt take. the boot was too small as well i had to take the shelf out to fit the pushchair in and then had to have the carrycot on the back seat. the car ive got now it all fits in the boot with the shelf.
