Is it normal to not be seen until 8-10 weeks?

When I was pregnant with my son (10 years ago) I had my first appt at 6 weeks.

We just moved to a new state so I’ve been calling around. I am a little surprised they don’t have you come in for a blood draw or anything. Like who are you supposed to call if you have a miscarriage etc?

Is this the new normal or should I keep calling around?

I'm in the uk so it's probably not much help but all my pregnancies have been booked in around 8-10 week's. If we suspect a miscarriage we have to go to A&E x

If you are in USA, yes that is when they see you for your first appt is around 8 weeks. If you were to have a miscarriage which hopefully you do not you would go to ER. As for blood tests they wont do those until that appt either but depending on where you are state wise you could get your own blood test if wanting to like verify the HCG is there or going up.

I didn’t see a doctor with my first until 13 weeks!

this doctor is 7-8 weeks. It’s normal but changes based on where you’re seen. Like others said—if anything were to happen you’d go to the ER.

Ugh just called my general practitioner to see if I could get in for a blood test and they can’t get me in until next week.

I am not sure where else I can call to get a beta

So weird! With my first I was seen right away for bloodwork and first ultrasound at 6 weeks.

got my blood work done and was told I’ll get my results tomorrow or Wednesday.

I wish it was like that (still or here at all, not sure where you're from!)
Here, unless you do the NT scan privately at 12 weeks, no echo until 20 weeks and no blood tests for beta unless you have bleeding, recurring losses etc.

FX for the results, will they do a repeat?

It matters on your OB. I can get in at 4wks but they generally will schedule at 6-8wks.

I was going to say a walk in lab is the way to Go. I did that with dd3.

I got my results already. hcg was 618 so that is aligning up with when I think I ovulated (either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day). So I am thinking for now that I am 5w2d... due date Sept 13.

Gonna go get another draw on Thursday.

Does hcg double every 48 or 72 hours?

Since I am going to a private lab I am trying to figure out when I need to go back
