well ever since i had my ds the "rules" have changed so much with regard to ff so at the moment im following the guidelines from WHO but was wondering...
is it ok to put boiling water in the bottles and leave them on the side then when LO wants a bottle just add the powder to the room temp water?
i was just wondering as she will only take her milk at room temp andi struggle ot get cooled milk right for her

hi hun. Click on the link in my signature for the latest advice. You can use this method but its not the best as the milk powder doesn't get sterilised in hot water. Best to completely pre make and put in the fridge, you can microwave for a few seconds as long as you shake the butle well after in case there are any hot spots. Jx

yeah i have been microwaving its just ive been struggling to keep the bottle cool if i take it out the fridge when i go out

you can get insulated bottle bags. Tommee tippee do one. That'll keep it cool for a couple of hours or longer if you put a little ice pack inside. Jx

ive got an insulated bag but it doesnt fit in my changing bag and i use the bus alot so its mega inconvinient lol
oh well never mind ill have to persivere with it lol

when i go out i just put boiled water in the bottle then put it in one of those bags that keep the bottle warm n just add powder when needed

I use a flask, it holds a full days worth of water bottles lol.
Then I use a cool bag with a ice pack in with a small bottle that has previously boiled water that has been inthe fridge and it stays cold. So I just put an amount of hot water in the bottle, pour the milk powder in then top up with the cold. Its just about getting the amounts right and I still havent figured it out but getting there :haha:

would it not just be easier to let the water cool to the temp you want then put in flask to keep at right temp ^^^^^^^^^

When I had DD I used to make up the bottles with boiled water that had been allowed to cool for half an hour. Then I would leave them on the side until DD wanted a feed when I would add the formula. She preferred room temp too and health visitors at the time said this was fine to do. Although they keep changing the recommendations for making up feeds.

I do it this way Hun. I was making them up as and when bby needed them for the first few weeks but my baby is a very hungry baby and doesn't like to wait lol.

Then we made them up nd stored them in the fridge but all my friends told me to do it the way your thinking of doing it and it works fine for us.

For my night feeds I boil the kettle and fill my bottle up to the correct amount, then place the bottle in a thermal bag and it's cools to the correct temp by the time my lo wakes at 3am. I like to give her a warm bottle for her eve and night feeds. X

If you are going out, and your LO likes room temperature formula, the easiest thing to do is to take a carton and an empty sterilised bottle - just pour and go xx
