I'm not talking about boogying at your mate's wedding.
I mean strenuous extensive dancing like hiphop or jazz, with lots of jumping and twirls etc..
So far I've read that it's ok as long as your body is up to it, but I'm not convinced.
I'm nearly 17 weeks and I feel I need to get fitter and also strengthen my body, my pelvis and joints. Dancing really helps with that.
I used to dance professionally. Hiphop and street funk. But it's been 4 years since.
What do you think?

Can't say from a medical point of view, but a note on dancing at a friend's wedding - my hubby and I were on the dancefloor and when he twirled me (my hand way above my head) I did feel a pulling in my lower stomach. Probably just my body stretching but it was enough that I asked him not to do it again.

I would say everyone is different and since you've been dancing for years, your body might love it! Just remember your center of gravity has changed and listen to the signals your body gives you while you're jumping and twirling about.

I teach 7 zumba classes a week and so far so good. I avoid jumping and twirling but I still move my hips:). Although I have to say it is not as easy as it was before:).
