I think it's shocking that he behaves the way he does to you. You've had to grow up very quickly to have any kind of relationship with him because he certainly isn't playing the role of parent very well. That seems to be up to you to always be the calm and mature one.
While it sucks and it's unfair and hurtful, you seem to be able to handle it. What worries me is the effect that could have on Aidan as he gets older and starts to experience grandpa's weird manipulative ways. I sure hope you don't have to cut off your dad to protect Aidan.
Seriously, I get fed up with the commercialization of xmas, too, but I don't go around trying to take the joy out of everyone. Particularly not that of little children. He's way out of line and quite emotionally abusive, in my opinion. I really wish you didn't have to deal with that.
