Hey girlies, im starting to stress out coz we've not started the baby's room yet i want to get started on it today but is painting safe??? With the fumes n that?? I would obv have the room well ventilated but am still worried lol x

ill be doing the same today hun i was gunna say ill just be having the room well ventilated it should be fine :) xxx

As long as its well ventilated its fine hun, but dont strain yourself, make your OH do the high up and low down places! Its a nice day, open up the windows and paint, paint, paint! x

No standing on ladders or stretching, make sure you're like a proper workman and get your OH to make you lots of drinks.

Painting in a well ventilated room is ok, we did our nursery last weekend. Going to order the carpet today!! Most DIY shops do reduced oder paint as well so if you are still concerned take at look at buying one of those.

Happy painting..... what colour are you going for??

They do make non-toxic paints...and I'm sure you'll be fine if you have the room well ventilated.

Im going to make my OH do most of the painting and setting up since hes got the muscles lol im going to put the stuffed animals and little stuff to decorate up..but just open up all the windows and go 2 town =]

its not really safe but open all the windows and buy a mask okay? thats what im gonna do. and dont stress out hunni you still have plenty of time! :)

I wouldn't do glossing.. But I was home when my OH painted the nursery walls and it was fine. Just keep it ventilated :)

I'm planning on doing most of the painting myself and wanted to know if it was okay also.
I guess so

I'm going to wait until after LO is born to paint because I like the smell of it! hhe
Unless we end up moving then I will have to paint the easy bits but iv got plenty of family to come and help :)

imagine what female painters and decoraters would do if it weren't safe! they'd have to start their maternity leave at their BFP, haha!!

it's fine as long as your skin is covered, the room is ventilated and you wash your hands before you eat/touch your mouth to stop from transferring anything into your body. they recommend you don't eat in the room you're painting in just to make sure you don't put anything in your mouth, but i wouldn't fancy that anyway, with the smell of paint haha!

there is some information on the NHS website about it, check here. it really put my mind at rest:
