My DS is 14 months (13 adjusted) and has began walking within the past week. I noticed since the walking has started he's become more easily distracted and listens to me less. Before he was waking I would ask him to do something once and he would usually do it, now I have to say it a bunch of times and he may or may not do it.

Is this normal?

Yes! Walking is a massive milestone and takes a lot of concentration! My LO was a chatterbox up until she really started walking and became virtually silent for about 3 weeks whilst she perfected her walking. Once she was walking without thought she returned to being a very noisy child lol!
Once he is really confident he will go back to listening to you, mobility is just something that is so unbelievably exciting for a baby that not a lot else matters!
