Is this safe to use to wash LO's face?

I found a huge roll of those all-purpose blue/white cleaning cloths in the back of a cupboard today, used one to wash off LOs face and hands after a messy lunch and then used the same cloth to clean off the highchair.

Had a look, they're made of 70% viscose and 30% polyester. Would you say that's OK to use on her face? I don't have any dishcloths, we clean with sponges and brushes. What do you use to clean LOs face? I'm going through loads of Waterwipes at the moment and those things aren't cheap.

Bonus question - does your LO scream bloody murder when you clean their face/hands? LO cries so hard that she does that kind of silent scream where she's so upset she's like a little volcano.

Hi there

My lo is not on solids yet but I work in a nursery and we use flannals for children's hands and faces. We just run them under warm water, then once used we put them in the wash. You can buy a cheap pack of 10 flannals from ikea for only a few pounds! X

I'm no expert but I can't see any reason they wouldn't be. I avoid wet wipes or anything with possible allergens in with my daughter (as my son had eczema so got used to just using water for both of them even though my daughter doesn't have eczema). I just clean them with kitchen roll or cotton wool and water usually. And yes they both hate having their faces wiped!

I find that some of those blue clothes seem to have something on them.. like when you wet them and squeeze them, you get a bit of foamy substance as though theres detergent on them... so be aware of that..

Ooh, I never noticed that - thanks.

I was going to get some washcloths but LO makes such a mess on her face I'd need a super-sized one, like the size of a small towel. I have some cloth wipes that we use on her bum but they are way too small. The search continues!

I've been using a sponge cause I was getting through far too many wipes......and my LO does the silent scream thing too....just like when I try and clean her (5) teeth, oh and roll her sleeves up, pretty much any time I try and make sure she's half decent!

What about muslin cloths or terry nappies? They're a decent size, you can get them fairly cheap, and they're useful around the home after.

we use the huggies dry wipes (and you can then wet them yourself) but they are quite small - about the size of a normal wipe i would say.
when my Lo is on normal food i shall be using face cloths for his hands and face.
