How often? How long does it take to feed them and do they go back to sleep afterwards? Has your baby ever STTN or on a regular basis?

My DD is nearly 11 months and is still waking up 1 - 2 times a night for a feed. Nothing else will settle her (nor do I care to force the issue, as long as feeding her settles her quickly I'm happy to do so) but it got me wondering how 'common' it is at this age to still be waking to be fed at night? My DS slept through from 9 weeks onwards so this was totally unexpected...

What about your babies?

My DS is 9 months and had been sttn from 7pm - 7 am from about 6ish months. The last month has been tough. He's had a cold, ear infection and weepy eyes as well as teething so he has been waking up loads and taking a feed again thru the night.

Being ill seems to have set him back and he doesn't always settle quickly after a feed. He can cry for a while before going back to sleep. I'm assuming he's got used to the night time attention whilst he was ill and trying to get back to how it was is proving difficult. Don't mind the night feed, just the often long periods to resettle.

My DD, who is almost 3, slept thru from around 6-7 months and stopped taking a night feed around then too. But with growth spurts, they will look for extra thru the night feeds. The joys lol x

Chads 11 months on the 4th jan and he still wAkes for a bottle once. He does sleep thru on occasion bt normally wakes Around 4/5am for a bottle sometimes earlier he has it and goes right back to sleep cj wasnt havin a bottle in night at this age and i sometimes think it needs to stop but it gets him bk to sleep quickly he doesnt have a dummy isnt a really cuddly baby so i give him the bottle and of he goes bk to sleep. He has slept thru twice this week tho 6.15pm - 7.15 Am one night best hes ever done lol x

Sleep? What's that haha! DD is a terrible sleeper, I'm still EBF and she wakes up every 2-4 hours for a feed. I can hear her belly rumbling when I go to her so I know she is hungry. She wont take formula at night so I can't give her any 'goodnight milk', and I've tried giving her porridge etc before bed but it made little difference.

Like you, I'm not forcing the issue as she wont be doing it forever. :flower:

Mine is 11.5. He started sleeping 7pm-8am around 9 months

DD is 16 months and for the last 3 weeks has started waking at 2am and nothing will settle her apart from milk! She eats like a horse during the day so I can't understand how she can be hungry. She dropped her night feed at 11 months, so we had 4 months of sleeping through and now this. It must be a growth spurt so I'm going along with it. She goes straight back to sleep after drinking her milk.
DS dropped night feeds at 5 months so it's a shock for me too!

I think it's very common when you don't do any form of night weaning or sleep training. I didn't do either, plus we bed share. I just recently night weaned her due to sensitive nipples on my part (pregnant), and a lazy latch on her part. She is 2 years, 2 months old. As for "sleeping through," it depends on what definition you use. If you mean sleeping 5 straight hours, I have no idea when that started. If you mean not needing anything from you from bedtime to wake-up time, that just recently happened due to her being able to hold her pee until morning and night weaning. (Oh, and it doesn't happen every night... but it is more common now)

Yep - my little guy is up 1 - 2 times a night for a feed, 3 or 4 times on a bad night

Well, so I'm glad I'm not alone (sort of, wouldn't wish the lack of sleep on others intentionally!)

Like SarahBear, our toddler is also night potty trained but a couple nights a week he'll wake up and walk into our room and say he needs to use the toilet. So on a "bad" night (aka: last night) I'll be out with DD 3 times (2 for a feed, one for a pacifier), and once or twice with my DS. And I'm really bad and don't go to bed till 12:30/1am... so 5 wakings until I have to get out at 7am.

Hoping for some more sleep soon!

My son dropped his night feed at 5.5 months without any intentional weaning he was just ready to do it but every baby/child is different and is ready to go all night without waking up at different times. I'm just lucky my little man is an incredible eater and very lazy. At 11 months he sleep 7-7/8 and has 2 good naps 1.5 hrs in the morning and 2+hrs in the afternoon. I know I'm lucky and if I have another they will probably be terrible for sleeping lol

My nearly 9 month old is still up anywhere between 1 and 5 times a night. Tonight he went to bed at 7:30 and as I type this its 11:30 and he's already up for his first feed of the night. It's going to be a long night :dohh: :coffee:

My 2 year old still gets up once or twice a night here and there. My 6 week old has slept 9 hours straight for the last 3 nights so there's that.

My DS was like this! He started sleeping through the night (with no night feeds) at 9 weeks! and up until he dropped his morning nap at 14 months old, he was sleeping 1 - 2 hours in the morning and 2 - 3 hours in the afternoon, then a solid 12 hours at night.

My DD is still waking at night (which is frustrating) but she's also sleeping a regular 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon, so I can't complain TOO much. Still would like to know what it's like to sleep all the way through though!

My DD is 9 months, and we bed share. She wakes 2-3 times a night and eats (BF). However I normally don't wake up for them. I think it's comfort more than the milk she wants.

My 16 month dd is still having a bottle in the night, she goes to bed about 7 and then when she wakes in the night she just takes the bottle and goes straight back to sleep till 8. Could be worse!!! x

Yes, my LO was still waking for milk at that age. And she still is; she's 3 next month :haha:

Yes he gets up four times a night to eat I'm constantly exhausted! He goes through two eight ounce bottles a night it's crazy! I have even tried feeding him cereal before bed with baby food or formula and that doesn't work either!

At 11mos my LO usually still wakes 1-2 times a night. She cosleeps, so she nurses for 5-10 mins and is back to sleep! :)

Mine was up for 2 hours on Friday night, from midnight til 2.15am. Then last night she refused to go to bed til 10.30pm. On an average night she'll go to bed about 8.30pm, wake up once for milk and be awake about 45 mins and then go back down til about 7am. Her big sister didnt sleep through til about 15 months so it's not unexpected and even now at 3 years she often wakes up in the night. So no, at 8 months mine was up about 3 times a night! So things have improved!
