Hiya ladies... Im just being nosey really :haha: When I was pregnant with my daughter ( now 4years old) my MW was horrible!! I could never get hold of her, when I did she was not helpful at all and just had a really bad attitude. This time around my MW is BRILLIANT!! :happydance: She takes time to answer any questions that I have ( usually 20+ at each appointment..lol ) and when I went for my 16 week appointment I said to her ''If you cant hear babys heartbeat Im going to worry myself sick'' so she turned around and said~ ''No you wont because I'll just send you for an extra scan to put your mind at ease... I dont have any of my pregnant ladies worrying through there pregnancy'' I just thought it was really nice of her to put me and baby 1st and not to be so clinical like most MWs are. At my 1st appointment with her she also took my mobile number and every now and again she will text me to see how me and bump are doing. It was a nice surprise for me because I was expecting a horrible experience again, I couldnt have been more wrong xx

Ive seen about 3 now - Talk about lack of consistency and no patient midwife bonding!
Friggin NHS!!!

Oh no, thats a shame Lellow... They should realise what a big deal it is for the mum to be to bond with her MW.. Im lucky this time around xx

i second this... i've seen 3 and only once met my "assigned" mw. she's never there.

And it always feel like they just wanna get you in and out again!!! Theres always loads of people waiting to be seen and ive never had one appt with a MW thats been on time!

I have a really nice midwife and have seen the same one through out, and when I have my home birth she may be one of the midwives doing the delivery

Iv only seen my mw twice and she seems nice.
However she never have me her mobile number. Is this normal? I thought we was supposed to have their numbers for emergancys
xx

she sounds lovely!!! thats great!
with my son had a horrible midwife and again this time, even though weve worked together over a year they just dont care to be honest. her phone is always off, and so are all the other communtiy midwifes phones in the area. ive had bleeds and got no reasurance. the midwives in my area are plain horrible, and that is from a patient point of view and from a colleague point of view, ive never met such snotty mean people in my life! they would even joke about how ugly a baby was and how ugly ladies bits looked! and this would be senior midwifes. i couldnt stand working there and i dont go to that hospital for any appointments, i drive 45mins away instead.
women have their babies and need support, not critism and thats what they got, being yelled at for not feeding the baby or changing the baby but noones said to them check the nappy before a feed or feed every 3-4hours.
ok my rant over!!!
will say that my midwife friend is brilliant, i txt her all the time, the hospital i go to arrange extras scan when i have a bleed etc so im not too bothered about my actual midwife :)

Its such a shame that so many ladies have bad experiences with their MW. They shouldnt be doing the job if their hearts not in it 110%... They have such a magical job, they should be bloody greatful!! xx

I dont have my midwifes mobile number, but i have been given the main community office number. Im sure once you're near your due date they may give it to you then

Youngling, i would definately ask her for her mobile number hun, hopefully you will never need her in an emergency but at least you will have it just incase xx

Yeah she probably didnt want to give it to me to early as she probably gets people ringing her who are still in their early stages for pointless reasons.
She will probably give it to me closer to the time but will ask at next appointment
xx

The first midwife at my doctors sugery when I made my booking appointment couldn't wait to get me out of there.

The midwife I saw at the hospital was lovely but was just doing all the routine questions and stuff.

When I went at 16 weeks it was a different midwife again who was really nice, but she was covering for someone else. I asked for a mobile number because if anything happened I had no contact number for them and she was happy to give me it.

My sister on the other hand lives in the same area but different doctor, she has seen the same midwife every time and she is brilliant with her!!

awww thats lovely as you know mines shite. Rude, said that horrible downs sydrome comment, unsympathetic..... the list goes on but she is the only mw at my surgery due to shortages x

I've only met my MW once and she seemed nice enough once she warmed to me. The only thing is - I cant understand her very well because of her accent!

I don't like mine very much, the first time I met her she had me in tears saying I wasnt eligible for NHS treatment because Id been out of the country for a couple months....I was like..so shall i have the baby on the street?? So yeah she's being nicer to me now but it really rubbed me up the wrong way, not a good start to something that's supposed to be positive :growlmad:

123laura, thats awful hun... im surprised at how many MWs are horrible!! xx

I can't believe your midwife said that to you!!:growlmad:
Also it's not true, there's an agreement with EU countries etc.. to get free treatment on nhs service or equivalent, as long as your resident in that country at the time! i was out of the country for 11 years and they never questioned my nhs treatment!
how mean of her to freak you out at such a vulnerable time!! :hugs:

mines lovely! they dont give mobile numbers out here you ring the commuinty office and they ring the mid wife or ring delivery or anti natal wards theres always someone you can ring 24/7 so no need for mobile numbers! x
