As soon as my little boy gets air to his mid rif, when his clothes and/or nappy come off, he itches his tummy, back and bum cheeks like crazy, sometime til they bleed. It's not sweaty, there's no sign of a rash or irritation but it obviously bothers him. He's been doing it to some degree, since he was a tiny baby, but its getting worse.

Has anyone else experienced this? D you use or can you recommend anything to use on it?

My mil has suggested Cuticura dry skin cream or Aqueous cream BP.....??

Yes!! Isn't it horrible, I can hardly ever leave any of my dd's skin exposed as she will scratch like mad, it breaks my heart :( she has had eczema since she was a little baby so we've had aveeno moisturiser on prescription for over a year and steroid creams for flare ups. The trouble with this scratching is that to us, there's nothing there so we don't know where she is going to start scratching until she does it. I feel I spend my life saying "don't scratch honey" and pulling her hands away and distracting her. I only bath her once a week these days as she is awful in the bath and goes crazy scratching!!

All I can say is moisturiser, moisturise, moisturise, the less dry the skin is the more relief they get. You could take your lo to the docs as you would probably get something on prescription (we do but we had to try a few different products before we got there), aqueous cream is actually an emollient (soap) rather than moisturiser so you'd be better with a cream but I would avoid all johnsons products as they are heavily perfumed and might make it worse.

I feel your pain tho (and lo's) it's horrible :(

Thank you!!

Its just so hards as he's never had any dry skin, eczema, rashes etc.....so i feel like if I take him to the docs they'll be like 'yeah, theres nothing to give you'!!x

Honestly, I will suggest you switch diaper brands. My daughter had very sensitive skin and we had to get sensitive diapers for her because of the irritation. She never got diaper rash or anything so I know its from the diapers. Also, I would use sensitive skin body wash and sensitive skin lotion. I know it may sound crazy to switch all these things but it elliminates you having to go through each on to find out whats irritating your LO.

TRUST ME! It works :)

Oh and when getting sensitive skin products ...sensitive skin and hypoallergenic are different...alot of baby products say hypoallergenic but if your baby has sensitive skin, some products will still irriate if they are not specifically labeled "sensitive skin"

You could try taking him to a doctor to see what they say.

I use coconut oil on my LO's skin, especially when he use to have severe eczema (prior to finding out about his dairy allergy), and it's amazing :) I personally would stay away from Aveeno due to the chemicals in it, and watch for lotions, soaps, etc with fragrance in them as they irritate the skin more. It could also possibly be your laundry soap. We use Seventh Generation hypoallergenic laundry soap just because of my LO . . if you're using one that is heavily fragranced, it could be irritating your LO's skin.

Yes! LO had eczema and bad skin when he was younger but it's pretty much cleared up now. He scratches his forehead and the small of his back the most. His back looks totally fine except for the scratch marks, I think he may be aiming for his bum as he sometimes has diaper rash. We use fragrance-free non-allergenic everything and moisturize lots but he's just a scratchy kid.. He's a million times better than he used to be though.

Rowan suffers from dry, itchy skin too - like you said, there's nothing to see, she just complains of being itchy. I find normal baby lotion usually sorts it out (we use the supermarket own brand). You could also check what you're washing his clothes in - I can't use biological washing powder because it does the same thing to my husband!
