Hi Ladies,

It's been almost a year since our last appointment with the fertility specialist. On our last appointment we found out there is nothing wrong with us and basically said we were just one of those “unknown” cases.
Our doctor suggested IUI but at that time my hubby & I decided to keep trying before trying IUI.

3 years after TTC and almost a year after going to the FS no baby yet So we are going back to the FS Oct 4th and give IUI a try.

Wondering if anyone here has tried IUI or is thinking about it? What are your thoughts? Results?
I'm very scared and dont want to get my hopes up too much.

Hi waiting. We are about a year behind you. Going through the fs tests right now get results in December and don't qualify for iui next July. We don't know if anything is wrong but I'm open to it. At the fIrst fs appointment the nurse said the worse case would be we'd need a sperm donar but I wOuld draw the line at that.

What test are u having done?
We stop going to the FS when she told us all test came back positive and just wasnt sure why we werent preggo yet. Took a few months off from charting and testing but nothing so we went back to really trying another few months and almost a year after going to the FS nothing so we decided to go back.
I guess my upcoming appointment w the FS is just to see where do we start off again since it has been so long now. I'll make sure and keep you posted and hope you do as well

I just had IUI#1 2 days ago.

Hubby's SA result pre and post wash is good. So the problem is me.

My OB/GYN suggested to try natural IUI for a couple of cycles before going further, like do HSG to check blocked tubes.
She thinks my problem is hostile CM.
I'm not taking any fertility meds, since I ovulate every month with 14 luteal phase and thyroid is normal, except I have a slightly elevated prolactin level.

When she went down there to inject my hubby's sperm into me, she said my CM was thick, instead of clear and watery.
Soooo I hope that's the only reason why I haven't gotten BFP all this time.

We've had cd 4 and 21 bloods and DH has had one SA and just been sent another appointment. They don't say why other than it could be technical error or abnormality. So we are mega scared and DH is convinced that he is infertile.

How or why did they suggest donor sperm, if they've not even test your husband's sperm, MrsFX?

They didn't say we need donar sperm. DH asked what the worse thing that could happen would be and they said IF he wasn't producing any sperm donar would b the only option.

Now that he has to do a second SA DH is worried.

I'm soooo scared more of geting my hopes up and not getting preggo.

When my Hubby had his SA last year the FS said it was great, I had tons of blood work and all came back good although I did get check twice on prolactin levels since the 1st was just a litlle high but second came back normal. My HSG I had around Oct or Nov last year came back normal meaning no blockage was found. My periods are normal, I do ovulate we are both 26 and both in our Healthy weight so really not sure why no baby yet

I was thinking maybe my CM I dont see really any each month but dont feel dry we have used preseed a few times but thought to myslef if this was an issue wouldnt the FS ask or let me know???

5 DPO today... ONLY freakin' 5 DPO.... it feels like I had the IUI a month ago.

Time is passing slower than turtles crawling speed.

@ Bunny I know what you mean just one more week for my consultation with the FS and I'm so nervous and feel like time is going by slowwwwwww.

Did your doc give u any clomid to try this month along with ur IUI? How long have u been TTC? How long to you wait till you test?

I was excited when I finally could do the fertility consultation since it means a progress to my one year long struggle.

No clomid, no trigger, no injection, no meds, just OPK & CBFM.
She thinks fertility drugs are unnecessary since I ovulate every month.
So when I had +OPK, she told me to call right away to get the IUI done.

O yeah, I am taking Bromocriptine, to lower my prolactin level. It's only 5 pts higher than the max normal level.

She told me to do no-meds IUI for a couple of cycles before do HSG because she thought it's just hostile CM problem.

But, I'm only being help with an OB/GYN instead of a fertility specialist. The nearest FS is 2 hours drive. My OB is only 10 mins drive.

If I went to a FS, I bet she/he would ask me to do HSG first and take Clomid right away,since it increases the chance to get pregnant a lot.

We have so much in common.
My prolactin levels were just a little high the first time so my gyno decided to do a re take and those came back normal.
After 1 and half yrs of TTC my gyno sent us with the FS had tons more blood work which all came back normal and HSG which came back with no blockage.
I have a normal period every 28-30 days and I ovulate on my own (FS also did an ultrasound to check that I ovulate) & I do get +OPK’s.

The FS did give me clomid to try one month just to up my chances & also mention that I would be on it if we decide to do IUI since it does increase your chances.

In the beginning felt like regular pap smear, the part when the doc insert the steel clamps and the long catheter into the cervix.

When she injected the sperm, the pressure was pretty intense.
And then, I felt uterus cramping for the rest of the day. It's not that painful, and not like the AF kind, kinda like feeling constipated.

I'm sure compared to HCG, IUI feels like an ant bite!!

Oh my HSG was painful! I went alone bc my hubby's boss is very pissy about asking for time off Big mistake! I was so tense which i think made it worst and the cramps were bad i felt like crying.

Did the doc ask your OH if he wanted to inject the sperm? I read some doctors ask. How long did you lay there after?

But, you're making me really curious and want to get HSG.
I just want to get over it, scratch one possible issue off the "Why am I still not preggo?!" list.

I wouldn't let him do it. It'd feel awkward. Maybe I would laugh and my muscle might push the sperm out instead LOL

I only laid down for 20 mins. The doctor said after 15-20 mins I could leave.

You may want to bring a pantyliner, just in case you are spotting after.

I think would LOL too and wouldnt want him to feel like its his fault if we dont get preggo... one more week for my appt feeling very nervous although I'm just going to talk to the FS

I read some the 'unexplained fertility' success stories on this forum and from googling around
when there's nothing wrong with the woman and the man, it's mostly because the male has anti sperm antibodies, which can be fixed with IUI or IVF/ICSI
