:( I've got a cold- what can I take??

First came the constipation - I conquered that
Then came the ms - I'm dealing with that
Now.....now I've got a stinking rotten cold and I feel like hell!!

Runny nose, sore throat, can't breathe..... Argh!!

What can I take other than paracetemol??

I've been there the last 4 days. I've found peppermint oil helps me clear my nose a bit-- not entirely, I've never been this bunged up before. I've been sucking on honey lozenges and drinking hot water with manuka honey, gargling, steaming... I got nose tapes and saline nasal spray (doesn't work). Tried cold berry smoothies. That's all I got.

I second the manuka honey - with loadsa lemon, hot water and a Kenyan teabag if you can find one - in the UK waitrose sell them. My cold is just coming, OH got it first and we have a 5 month old so not looking forward to her getting it. Feel better all! xxx

Thanks ladies....Its awful!!
Just had to google strepsils, only to be told i cant have them. Can have tunes and lockets though so im going to clear the shop out at lunch time!!
Might try and get myself off to Waitrose this evening as well. I'll try anything at the moment.....

I have just got rid of the cold! Tumeric is meant to be really good for colds! You can heat up some milk and add a teaspoon of powder and drink it.... I couldnt do this as HATE milk but....i had a teaspoon of honey and sprinkled it on top and had it that way! I really think it helped.... and i was having green tea with manuka honey too. Hope it clears up soon!

i have been reading as i have been up the last few hours with a cold. That in the 1st tri you can't take anything.

i was supposed to go visit dad in the ICU today but no way i am going into a hospital when i am sick.

The stuffy nose can be horrible and you can't take sudafed to clear your sinuses. You can use something called a netipot which is this pot that you fill with tepid water and a special solution (comes with the package). I know it sounds gross, but you pour it through one nostril and it comes out the other and it really rinses all the phlegm and mucous out. It's safe for pregnancy as you don't ingest anything and it's really comfortable and doesn't sting! I used it for my sinus problems before I was pregnant!

gargling salt water 3-4 times a day helped me when i had a cold and sore throat during my first pregnancy.

the salt will help kill the bacteria...

Omg I feel like death!! Seem to have taken a turn for the worst this evening
Hot then cold. Shivering aching headache and just generally feel awful.
Just took some paracetemol to see if that helps at all.
I'm praying it's only a cold and not the flu.....

They say Tylenol (non aspirin) is safe during pregnancy! Ask your doc and try taking maybe just two! Hope you feel better!

Was trying to book the flu jab yesterday but couldn't get through.

try hot orange squash with honey and lemon - before I was preganant I would have put soluble aspirin in it as well - but obviously not now - don't know if you can get soluble paracetamol - never seen them. Also try vicks vapour rub or obas oil on a tissue or in some warm water and inhale it. I also have the tissues from kleenex that have balm stuff in them they help clear your nose. The only other thing my oh swears by is a really hot curry or chilli but I know that I can't eat either since i've been pregnant not sure about you.....
