Im kinda nervous, I should have gained about 4 lbs, but I lost 2 lbs. I was a normal healthy weight to begin with before I got pg. Im 32 weeks now, but my fundal height is measuring 34, so maybe it's ok? Anyone else have this problem?

was the doc / mw concerned about this? I guess it's only 2lbs, I'd probably worry if it was more... x

Yes, I had the same problem I lost around 3 pounds between weeks 35-36, when my doctor asked me to think about it, I realized it was because I was having a hard time finishing my plate during meals because little one was sitting so high up.

Since that was the reason, my doc suggested that since I was eating smaller meals that I just needed to add more meals in between my regular meals in order to stop losing any additional weight. So I went from eating 5-6 times a day (which I had been doing since almost the beginning of pregnancy) to eating around 8 times a day just smaller portions.

I'm happy to report that this strategy put on the lost 3 pounds & tacked on 2 more. Now that I'm at 39 weeks my weight gain has plateaued, but the doctors told me that this is normal.

And in case you think all this eating packed on unnecessary pounds, I can tell you that when all is said & done I gained a total of about 38 lbs so far.

At any rate, I wouldn't worry about it just make sure you're getting all the nutrition you need & maybe try eating a few more smaller meals during the day (whether you're hungry or not).

It's actually a 6 lb diffrence, cuz I shoulda gained 4 on top of it.
My dr does seem a little concerned, and sending me for a growth scan this week. So that's why Im kinda worried,.. but, I also had a stomach virus and lost about 5 lbs, but gained it back right away with iv fluids. So I really honestly dont know why I would lose,.. this never happened with my other pg's. I guess Ill feel better just knowing that Im not the only one with this prob, and that the baby will be ok. I keep telling myself that since the fundal height is ok I shouldnt worry, right?

I have hardly put on any weight at all for weeks now. My bump is growing well, its not massive, to be sure, but it is fine for my build. My midwife just says that too many people put on too much weight, and that I am just not carrying a lot of extra fat. Fundal height is measuring ok, baby has a good heartbeat and lots of movement and all seems fine. Perhaps you are the same? As long as your baby is growing and you have the reserves in your body to feed it, surely its a good thing that your weight is not piling on.

It's good they're getting baby checked out. I guess they just want to make sure. Are you quite underweight? Maybe that's why they're a bit worried. But I think as long as the fundal height is ok I wouldn't worry. here in the UK they don't even weigh you regularly. I was weighed at 12 weeks and won't get weighed now until 36 weeks

I haven't been weighed since my booking appointment, and when I mentioned to mw last week that I was concerned I wasn't putting enough weight on (only 6lbs so far...) she said that fundal height was ok, so there is nothing to worry about.

Thanx! Thats good to know that they dont dwell on your weight gain there. Here they almost obsess about it lol.
No, Im not underweight, lol, far from it atm. According to my wii fit Im overweight but I cant tell it theres a baby in my belly. Im usually within normal bmi.
My dr hasnt called me today for my growth scan, so Im assuming it isnt really urgent :)
I feel better thanx to you guys, cuz my fundal height is measuring about 2 weeks ahead, so the baby must be growing ok!

sounds like baby is growing ok hun. not sure why they are obsessing so much over the weight with you. I wouldn't even know if I'd lost or gained weight between appointments. Don't worry too much hun, I'm sure all's fine with your little one. x

I wouldnt worry too much hun, I have lost 20lbs since i was weighed at my 12 weeks scan appointment and my baby is being measured as on the large side!! wacky i know!! The consultant said it doesnt do any harm for mums to lose weight as the baby will take what he/she wants regardless.
