IVF and Cysts - Question?

Hi Ladies

i am currently doing a round of 'long protocol' IVF. the plan was to down reg using BCP and then followed by a couple of weeks of buserelin [suprecur] and then stim using gonal f.

i am still on the down regulation bit and went for my first DR scan on weds. I still have a thick triple layer lining and a cyst. my bloods were taken and it shows high oestrogen levels so the cyst is the reason my period has not come and my IVF is stalling. I am due for another scan on friday but no signs of AF and just continued EWCM and other signs of fertility, despite my buserelin dose being doubled.

i am fully expecting this cycle to be cancelled and now I'm thinking whats the point in trying again if my body has responded like this. i have never had any issues with cysts etc so i am assuming it is down to the drugs.

Does anyone have any experience of dealing with 'oestrogen releasing' cysts during a medicated ivf cycle?

I do and had this problem on my second cycle, but I already had tiny cysts due to pcos. 8(!!) of the tiny a cysts (4 on each ovary) started to fill with fluid and grow. I also fully expected a cancelled cycle but my clinic had me DR for an additional week and then agreed I could start stims. I had no period but never did on any of my cycles. I was ok until day 5 when my hormone levels tripped as the cysts were releasing so much oestrogen on top of the growing follicles. They monitored me for a further two days and then I had to trigger early for fear of OHSS. I was really worried my eggs wouldn't be mature but I did get 5 eggs and 4 fertilised. I did develop mild OHSS but was still ok to transfer. Good luck xxx

Lolly - thanks so much for your reply. Was very heartened to see you now have your daughter with another on the way. What a wonderful surprise for you.

I have been trying all sorts during the last few days to try and get my period to come….acupuncture, parsley tea, vit c mega doses and guess what….none of that crap works [for me at least]!

i will see what thursday brings.
