Hi ladies :hi: I have my first IVF consult tomorrow morning!

DH has a high viscosity so his doctor said natural contraception was unlikely.

I've had tests done, CD 3 tests, etc. So, I'm hoping I'll be able to start with my next cycle (which begins at the end of the week) But I'm not sure.

After the 1st consultation how long was it from that point when you started the drugs for IVF?

Hey hun

I just had my consultation today - they were willing to start me on the long protocol from CD21 which would have been next Monday. Then it would be 2 weeks sniffing, 2 weeks injections followed by EC and ET.

I had to have HIV, Hep B and C, Rubella, full blood count, CD3, CD21 and progesterone done before they would start - DH had to have HIV, Hep B and C and a recent sperm test.

Hope they can get you started as soon as possible - i know it probably varies clinic/country but both clinics i have been to wanted the same tests done before they wold start.

Good luck :dust:

I am in Canada - but they were able to start right away - although dh and I had already had all the tests like rachelle said - which I am sure you have had too.

:hugs:

Yeah, I've had all the tests at my gyno and I'm immune from Hep B..I had the vaccination shots a few years ago. And DH had an SA done not too long ago.

Thanks ladies! :hugs:

i am not on ivf just yet hun, but wanted to wish you all the luck in the world xxx

lotsa lotsa luck dust :dust:

:hugs:

hope it all goes well babes xxx

Chris - it can all depend on the protocol your clinic wants to put you on. Because of my age, I was put on the short protocol with Birth Control Pills - which is basically on the pill for 24 days (from CD 2), and 3 day break to have AF, then I'll have start 12 or so days of injections. Some clinics don't bother with the BCP and straight to down regging from CD1 or CD21.

Let us know how you go.

Thanks...my appt is in 2 hours...excited but very nervous!

Okay....here goes:

DH's SA and my irregular cycles are (according to Dr. K) MINOR issues and are NOT the cause of our infertility. However, the fact that I spot for like 5 days before actual full flow indicates I have low progeterone...easy enough problem to fix...I'll just need progesterone for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy...

He did a sonogram and could tell that I ovulated based on the follicles, my uternine lining, etc...so everything looks okay there.

Also because of my ITP, my pregnancy will be considered high risk.

Our game plan is as follows:

Repeat CD 3 tests on Friday or Monday (depending on when my period decides to fully show)

HSG next week

Clomid 50 mgs and then IUI in July

If that fails, we'll move on to injectibles and IUI.

If IUI fails and/or we find out that my tubes are blocked, then we move on to IVF. The cost of IVF will be $11,000 with $3,000 of that going for medication. The FS said he'll try to give us as many free samples as he can get though. If we DO have to do IVF, we won't be able to do it right away because of finances. So, we'll have to wait at least a year (on the generous side) before we can do IVF.

Since my insurance covers NONE of this...not even the HSG...we'll be paying for everything out of pocket.

Hi Chris, it sounds like you guys have a plan! I am sorry that you will have to wait for IVF but hopefully you will not need it. I am always surprised when insurance doesn't cover fertility treatments. Good luck and I hope you don't have to wait long to get your BFP!

Glad the FS doesnt think urs and DH problems are the reason, but suppose that doesnt really give u a clear answer.

Hope all goes well with the IUI. Shame ur having to pay for it all urself, suppose thats the good thing about our NHS. I have everything x'd for you. You really deserve this. :hugs: xxxx
