IVF or Adoption

I used tot hink this too tinybutterfly. When we signed all the papers I was so scared and thought, How can I go through all this? But I did, and u know what? Ive definitely been through worse things!! Yes there was some pain and discomfort but nothing that I would rate as the worst experience of my life. I had one day of very severe pain but honestly, my bout of food poisining 6 years ago was worse than the whole IVF experience put together! Once you have been through it too it is a real high because you can say, hey, look what I did, I coped, I rock!
thankyou sooo much for sharing your experience

and congrats on the pregnancy!!!!
i'm wondering the same as Amy, how long did it take?

Amy... what does IVM stand for then? in vitro mild or something?

oooooh i see, thanks

interesting, just read a few things about in on the internet, sounds good!

tiny I forget do you have PCOS at all? I have heard it is really good for women with PCOS. Sounds very similar to mini IVF.

I was very lucky for the ICSI to work on the first attempt. I'd psyched myself up for the battle of multiple tries, so Im still coming to terms with the fact that Im pregnant! The whole process, from finding out we would need ICSI to getting my BFP was 10 months. So many people have bad experiences, Ours was so positive, completely textbook. I hope it gives others hope too.

Hi Puppymom
I've really sorry you have lost your tubes. I had a ruptured ectopic and lost part of my right ovary and tube and the numerous adhesions left me unable to conceive naturally, everything being tied down in the wrong place. My only option was ivf as i have a son conceived naturally 3 yrs prior to the ectopic we would have to pay. My amh ovarian reserve test came back as low fertility so that was against us plus my bmi was 34 however the fact 1 had been pregnant 4 times (1 ectopic 3 m/c's) did go in my favour. Anyway £4,000 later and my ticker says it all so it is possible and i would say you have a good chance, good luck x

Congrats Oneday you give me hope.

Obviously i'm no expert but what i would say is that if you go for ivf go for a protocol where you produce the most eggs because i think that will give you more chance of getting a good one. We did the long protocol with down regging first got 11 eggs 9 fertilised however these dropped off quickly by day 3 only 4 were left 2 grade A which were put back and on day 5 the other 2 were not good enough to freeze.Only one took, so i think its a bit like survival of the fittest and thats maybe why i didn't have another early m/c. Anyway only my theory sorry for the waffle x

nope, apart from screwed up tubes, everything else is fine.
before mc i was regular like clockwork, but now it varies a little more, but never more than a few days

Hi Puppymom,

Like what Oneday said - my clinic is kind of against the mini ivf. They said that the chances are just too low that it is not worth the money - you would be better to spend more and likely end up with even some frozen for siblings. It is only in very rare situations like certain age or ovarian reserve or extreme health/fertility issue that they use mini ivf. If you spend half the price but the chances are cut in half, you would end up spending the same price trying mini ivf twice.

Honestly hun just a thought - but you know your body best, and your clinic will know best. I know it is so hard financially. Dh and I are using a line of credit to pay the $11, 000 - and the money scares me more than anything else about the process.

:hugs:

Thanks Blue I guess I will meet with the clinic and see what they say I am just really freaked out about OHSS as I hear it is common with women with PCOS and if u get it then they cancel your cycle and make you wait a while to try again. Because I only have the over stimulation of follicles from PCOS and no other symptoms it kinda freaks me out. I would hate to put my body through all that and then have to cancel the cycle and do it all over again. There are just so many what ifs... Guess it would be best to just meet with a clinic and see what they suggest.

I have pcos and many follicles too - my clinic says that with the ivf you have your blood tested every other day to check for levels and scans to track the stimulation of the eggs - and they can lower the doses along the way to try best to prevent OHSS.

:hugs: Are you planning on booking an appt to get info on ivf?

Probably not for a while as I wanna try and save some of the money it will all cost. I know I can finance it but dont wanna overextend my self with a big payment and a new baby or possible two. I am thinking about getting a second job to help save the money. Then possible start at the beginning of 2011. I just wish I had the money right this second but they would probably make me wait a while anyways cuz I just had the tube removed 2 weeks ago.
