Heres a little about me. I'm 37 with 4 kids (DD20 (DGS 5mo), DD15, DS11 DS9) I had a Tubal Ligation in 2006 and a Tubal Reversal 4/2013. My Husband at the time was battling anger issues and I soon found out he was abusing steroids after his SA came back he was pretty much sterile. Our marriage soon fell apart. In October of 2013 I met my BF and we started ntnp in May, no luck, so in August we started TTC then he had an SA (in August also)... not so good results. (he worked in the heat and around chemicals) He was put on a vitamin regimn (he no longer works in those conditions) and his repeat SA is scheduled for Monday. All my test are good, I have had 2 HSG's and both show my tubes wide open.

I have my first RE appointment 1/15/2015 and could possibly move right into IUI as soon as 1/20/15 which should be CD3 to check follicles and start Clomid.

Any advice ladies?

I don't have any advice to offer but will most likely be on Clomid and trying IUI in early January.

I'm 41 and my Fiance is 44. We got our bloodwork/SA back and both were good. I'm going for an HSG to check my tubes later this month. I have no kids but my Fiance has a 9 year old son. I want a baby so badly, I don't know why it's not happening naturally after trying for almost 2 years.

I'm also open to any advice and support through this crazy journey.

Good luck!

Thank You, good luck to you as well. I will post advice as I get it as well

My only advice is watch it with the medication. Clomid is not too bad. I was on it but it didn't increase my ovulation so I changed to Gonal F. When you do injectable meds you can really hyper stimulate and end up with lots of eggs. If you end up with too many eggs it's a wasted cycle and they won't do an IUI.

I have had a couple IUIs so if you have any questions I can try to help you out.

I ovulate normally so I'm hoping Clomid will do the job

I hope so too. We were looking for a larger number of follicles so we have a better chance of one sticking. I didn't want to put all that money out and just have one egg to fall back on.

I am sure the IUI will help you.

The hardest part of all this journey for me is the waiting. We've been TTC for 2 years (I'm 41) and I just want my little one already. I feel so helpless. The fiance tries to be encouraging saying we're doing all we can yet I feel like every day that passes is an eternity.

I'm due to get an HSG in the next week or two, then next cycle hopefully get started on Clomid and IUI. I told my new job I had some medical procedures I needed to handle next month so hopefully they'll let me schedule my appointments.

I just want to fast forward to past the HSG, the IUI and the dreaded TWW to a BFP but I know I can't. That's why this board and the support is so helpful. Hearing everyone's different journey and how they coped helps me so much.

My fiance and I have no obvious infertility (besides the obvious age one) so I am hoping we just need a little medical assistance.

Thanks for listening.

Good luck and yes sharing your story helps. I understand I'm the most impatient person :/

So I'm getting my HSG on Friday the 2nd. It feels good to finally have something scheduled. I feel so helpless.

Some woman have said that they got their BFP's after an HSG, I was just curious if anyone had that experience. If not I will most likely start my IUI on January 22nd.

How is everyone doing?

I'm pretty bored, so if there's anyone else out there as bored as I am please post. I need some distractions. :)

I have also heard of women getting prego after their hsg
My OH repeats his SA Monday. I'm so anxious for the results because that's my hold up from moving forward.

Hi ladies! I had the hsg recently and it wasn't bad at all. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm also 41 so I know the struggles of trying to conceive over 40. We do have 2 kids (ages 7 and 10), but we'd like one more. I'm on CD 4 and we are starting our second IUI/clomid cycle. I took it really hard after our first IUI failed. Its a lot of time, money, energy, and hope put into each cycle. I was lucky in that I had absolutely no side effects from the clomid which is a plus.

Looking forward to hearing about your results and hopefully BFPs in the near future!

Thank you 2plus. I'm headed down the same road you're on.

I have my HSG on the 2nd and I'm due to O on the 4th so I'm not sure if that's good or bad for getting a BFP. I have a pretty short luteal phase so I hope it's not too late in my cycle.

The next step after the HSG is IUI and Clomid. I assume I'll start that around Jan. 22nd. I can understand feeling terrible after not conceiving after putting all that energy into a cycle. I've been going au natural and each cycle is a huge disappointment. I can only imagine when you have more riding on it. I wish you that BFP soon. It took my friend her 4th try but she finally has a beautiful baby boy. So I know there's still hope.

Do you mean you have a short follicular phase and you are concerned with HSG interfering with ovulation? If so, I had the same concerns. You could test with opks and if you feel you are going to surge, possibly cancel the HSG? I didn't want to waste a cycle either and risk doing the HSG during or after ovulation. Is it possible to change your HSG date. I ended up doing it during my first IUI cycle. HSG on CD 9, IUI on CD 16 (I usually ovulate CD 10-12 without clomid).

I already asked work for the time off so I'm going to keep the date. I've ready so many stories of women getting their BFP's after the HSG. I really don't want to get my hopes up too high. I should ovulate like 2 days after the test. I hope I'm not in too much pain to BD right after. I wish my doctor recommended doing the HSG and IUI in the same cycle. I don't know why he didn't. I want to be more aggressive but fiance thinks I'm rushing things. It's like, "hey, not getting any younger over here buddy.". Thanks for the advice.

I didn't have any pain with HSG. It's uncomfortable with a little spotting for an hour but nothing after. Usually doctors will schedule your hsg between CD 5-7
Hopefully all goes well. I'm with you on the impatient thing lol. I wanna do everything now. My OH repeats his SA tomorrow. Prayers for better results. My course of action all rely on these results.

Jan 8th is my annual and Jan 15th is my first RE appt

Dogenstein, my DH is the same exact way about seeing the specialist. I think it's a combination of factors. Let's face it, it's less sex. Before we were trying several times before ovulation, now the MD tells us when to do it...lol. Personally, it's stresses me out less. I think money is a factor too. Trying au natural is free! Maybe a little bit of egos involved. For me though, I feel like I know my body and it was time to get help. But anyways, yeah, he wasn't ready for the RE either.

Hope you get great results Jena!

Almost forgot, I started clomid again last night. Next appointment is this Saturday to check for follies!

Hi. I'll be scheduling an IUI for next month (too much going on this month) but i just wanted to extend my support and sends lots of luck your way! :hugs2:

I know how that is. I've had alot happen over Christmas break. Paid out over $500 to fix my car. I'm praying I can still make it work somehow
