Hi just wondering what to get my 13 month old for the coming colder days. A thick coat, a waterproof or a thick snow suit?
I know, not a major dilemma but don't want to waste money. Will be be too old for a snow suit?
Thanks

We've got Callum a nice thick coat from asda for £10, if he is walking by then (hopefully he will be!) then we may get a waterproof coat and wellies etc. Not sure how old the snow suits go upto sorry  xx

last winter I found I needed all of them for noah as he went through so many different stages at that point (13-17months)

Thanks. The one I want goes up to 2 years so it's in his size. LO is walking so I'm guessing he'll want to walk alot and will be handy to have a think snow suit when it's Freezing outside. Plus they look cute!

I'd suggest a thick coat as at 13 months plus, a toddler wants to do just that (toddle) and a snowsuit would hinder them if didn't have feet holes cut out as they couldn't wear shoes with a footed suit. A thick coat would mean they were warm in the buggy as could have footmuff or blanket over lower half but would give freedom to toddle if they decide they want to. Waterproof coat probably not necessary as with a young toddler who will mainly be in pushchair, they will likely have raincover if it rains anyway

That's my working out anyway!

i would get both tbh, as it depends on where you are going and what you are doing what they will need

Lana would wear a snowsuit if she was in her buggy at the farm, but a coat if we were going into town as its much easier to take off once you get inside (shops are normally so warm in winter)

We had both, a thick coat and a snowsuit that had no feet so in the really cold weather she could still walk in it, it was a lifesaver in the snow etc.

u can get a really nice waterproof snowsuit from next...ive just ordered zane one and hes 3 lol
at 13 months zane was walking but wasnt a strong walker so i found snowsuits the best.

Ellie's walking now so I've got her one of these from eBay and it's excellent (and cheap!): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200560446308
So we'll use that for wet days.

She also has a winter coat for dry days and I'll make sure she wears warm trousers (with tights under if needed) and furry boots!

Thanks for the replies. All three it is then!

at 13 months I would have got a warm coat and a puddle suit. You can put the coat under the puddle suit and put him in tights (masculine ones, naturally!) under his trousers so he's warm enough. I wouldn't have worried about the coat being water proof, I'd be more concerned about it being warm as if it's pissing it down, at 13 months my LO would generally have been in the buggy anyway!

Wev got brought Indie a snowsuit with removeable feet as we walks. Also a thick coat and a thinner coat. Quite tight with money so got them all from ebay. X

all 3 for us last year and all 3 for us this year too

A nice thick coat and wellies did us fine. Earl was walking at 10 months, so by the time it got to November etc he was very good and steady on his feet. We have pictures of him in his coat, wellies, a fleece sleepsuit, a jumper, a pair of trackies, a vest and 2 pairs of socks, plus hat, scarf and gloves, to go and play in the snow last december! :haha: He actually went through 2 coats in the winter. A duffle one and a waterproof one. Both were very good though. Pics of both below.

Snow suit for really cold and snowy days, thick padded jacket for more 'frosty' days. Amelie goes to nursery and they play outside A LOT so it'd obviously be in a pain in the arse for them to have to change 30 pairs of trousers cos they were soaking wet with snow. I think a jacket is fine in the snow if its a quick play but if they need to walk everyday, a proper thermal and waterproof snowsuit is far better.

im pretty sure that most snowsuits over 12m have removable feet

Last year we got a really cosy waterproof jacket with matching dungarees so he could year just the jacket or have the snow suit effect. This year we've had quite a lot of rain over the summer so we got him a puddle suit but in a size bigger so we can fit cosy clothes underneath in winter but still be waterproof in the snow and rain

i got nicole a warm duffle coat and i have a lighter jacket for over hoodies etc. jacket is 12-18mths and put it on her yesterday to find that the sleeves are half way up her arms!!! so will have to buy her another one.

got the coat in next ages 2-3!!

We have both a warm coat and a snowsuit for our 2 year old. I think snowsuits keep them much warmer than coats do, especially if they are in a pram/buggy. They are only too big for snowsuits when they don't make them in your childs size. My son had them until 3!
