Just been made to feel bad about not having a photographer

I know most of you will think I am potty not having a professional photographer for our wedding but we thought long and hard about it and I decided I would be far more relaxed without one.The reason being is that I hate my picture being taken I really do,if anybody watches friends and has the episode where Chandler & Monica are having photos done and he just clams up and pulls a weird face when confronted by a camera well thats me!I actually get nervous about it and I dont want to spoil my day worrying about having sombody following me round with a camera.I know other people will be taking pics but they all know what I am like,and we will pose for some shots even this is worrying me!.A couple of my friends do photography for a hobby so I know they will (try) and get some lovely ones.

I have just spoken to my Mum and she has just made me feel really bad about not having one!Saying that she wont have a nice picture of the wedding and that I will regret it bla bla bla.I tried to explain to her but she just wont listen and proceeded to make feel awfull!We dont have the best relationship at the best of times and she is only really interested in the wedding because she gets to flounce about as mother of the bride!

I am just doubting myself now but I know I have made right descision for US maybe its not for everyone else but its our day and I want to be relaxed and happy .

love- i didn't have one. I had some guy do mine that i knew. He sucked. BUT- i wouldn't change it. Our friends and family took some- and i LOVED those. Because they looked for more interesting moments, candid shots, things like that. More intimate shots.

I've shot a wedding or two myself- and i'm not a professional. But they turned out great and it didn't cost people a fortune. I like being able to do that.

And most people i know don't have professionals... because the price is INSANE and if you know someone who is good with a camera- why not?

You usually get MORE shots, and it doesn't cost you your first born to do it.

Some of our best friends didn't have one and they've never regretted it.

If you don't want one stick to your guns!!

I am considering not having one and just giving out discs and asking everyone to put any pics they take on disc for us. OH's brother has a good camera and is good with lighting and stuff in pics so will get him to do any posed ones I want.

It's your day and you have it how you want Don't let anybody tell you how you should and shouldn't do it!

ye totally. Most people have a photographer because its their way of remembering the day- but you will have pictures to do that its not like your cutting them out! Stick to what you want hun!!!
