Hi Ladies,

I finally had my FS appointment yesterday and walked out with a prescription of Clomid 50mg from CD2 - CD6............ You would have thought he had told me I was pregnant by the smile on my face!!

Any way, I've read up as much as I can find, but was wondering if anyone had any other advice that the doctors/internet/patient information DOES'NT tell you??

Thanks

:hugs:

Well this is my first round of Clomid 50mg days 5-9 (but I read that the days really don't matter too much). I also was really excited to take it too!

One thing to beware though is that the mood swings are real! lol my poor husband and the girls following my journal have been definitely exposed to that hehe. Also, I've had some weird stomach issues, mostly that food is not all that appetizing after a few mouthfuls not sure if that's the Clomid or not though

Good luck and I hope it works for you!

No advice but wanted to say good luck!! I have my appt Tues and I hope to be walking out with the same prescription and smile!! ;)

If you're only issues are ovulation then you stand a pretty good chance of conceiving with Clomid! :) I didn't notice any side effects until a few months after but hopefully you'll get your bfp before then. Carry on as normal, all Clomid does is stimulate your ovaries in the first half of your cycle.

I took two rounds of Clomid and it helped me to ovulate once. The side effects are notorious for mood swings, but I didn't have any real problems. I did get some minor hot flashes and I think the medicine upset my stomach, but nothing along the lines of moodiness or depression. Hope it works for you!

I took mine at night before bed to avoid side effects. I'm also taking robitussin this is my second round . I didn t o on 50 so dr moved me up tp 100. I take my last pill tonight. I have had major weight gain since taking the pills. Good luck.

Definitely ditto to taking it at night. I'm not sensitive to pain, but horrible headaches followed Clomid. That was it for me though, I would wake up and be fine.

Do not take clomid, I have only been TTC for this cycle, but I have read a few things about it. I just always read about a lot of things concerning TTC even if they don't apply to me lol. I have read that 30% of women have bad CM from taking it. I don't know if that means the lack of CM or what, but I know that to produce more CM, women take it with Evening Primrose oil. Even women who don't take clomid use EPO for better CM. There is a thread on here about it, and it is safe to take with clomid. Cough syrup is used by women TTC, not because it creates more CM, but because it makes the CM thinner & easier for the sperm to swim through. It doesn't have to robitussin, it just have to have Guaifensin in it, which is the ingredient that thins out mucous in your lungs, which will thin out all the mucous in your body, including CM. Most cough syrups will have 100mg of guaifenesin in it, but you can find brands with more. I have a Mucinex brand that has 400mg. So anyways, I am not giving advice on the clomid & EPO as I'm not using either at the time, I'm just telling you what I have read all over the internet. Oh I also heard grapefruit juice is good for CM. Not sure if it increases it, or thins it out. That will be something for you to research if you're interested. Hope this helps & good luck!

I use Clomid days 2-6. My only side effect has been hot flushes and they were pretty awful but a small price to pay if I get a BFP at the end of it.
I took mine at night time too.

Wow, Ladies, Thanks for such a great response!! :flower:

I suppose my main issue is going to be mood swings then? I don't suppose OH will notice anyway, I'm the moodiest bitch in the world at the best of times, I don't possibly think it could get any worse!!! :dohh:

I was a bit annoyed that I have to wait until next cycle as I was on CD5 when they prescribed it, thought I could start straight away, but was told to hold off until next cycle, I agree Skoer1360, I don't know what difference the days make, but they must have their reasons huh??

@Lisa92881 - Good Luck for Tuesday, let us know how you get on!

I hadn't even thought of what time of day to take it!! Thanks for the advice ladies!!!

I have already been taking the guaifenesin for a couple of cycles, I've got that one covered thanks whimesy3!!

Ladies, you have been great, as much as i'm looking forward to this, I am also dreading it!!

:hugs:

Yeah, clomid creates hostile CM but there are lubes such as preseed and conceive plus. Did your research tell you about those? They are lubricants that several women on clomid (and several women not on clomid) take specifically because it helps with hostile or nonexistent CM. Low CM is just a side effect of clomid but the results of using clomid are way better and that doesnt mean it will happen. I havent ovulated in four months since stopping birth control which means i havent had one chance to get pregnant. I am using clomid for the first time this cycle and I couldnt be more excited. I am sure everyone on here appreciates you taking the time to do the research and answer with a long, knowledgeable (about CM), answer but please do not come on here after ttc for two weeks, reading about clomid on the internet as opposed to talking to DR, and tell women to not take it. It does way more good than harm.

I also tried taking EPO and it gave me the worst stomach aches and bloating.

TryinFor1........ Thanks for putting that a lot more tactfully than I would have!!! I was a bit put out and upset by that comment, thats why it's taken me a couple of days to come back on and say thanks to everyone.

No problem. I didnt mean to sound rude or harsh but if she doesn't know anything about it besides one side effet, I dont think she should have said anything at all.

I am truly sorry that comment hurt you to the point where you couldnt come back for a couple days. Good luck on your clomid! cant wait for af to start so I can take it!

I took the same on the same days, had no side effects, ovulated on CD11 and conceived :D Good luck.

I hope I get that Lucky!!

And Good Luck to all the ladies taking clomid this cycle :happydance:

Congrats Coco, wish you a H&H pregnancy

Thanks :) and to add about the CM, it's true, it was noticeable during sex as I hadn't really thought about the lack of it so planned to get something (concieve plus etc) for the next round but spermies got there anyway....!

Yeah, I have planned ahead for that :winkwink:
( I was just a bit put out at the way I had been told NOT TO TAKE CLOMID!! :nope:)

It's nice to hear a sucess story, thanks Coco, you have made me a happy lady today!! :hugs:

My first round of clomid I took at night with no side effects as far as I could tell. Second round I took in the morning and I would have hot flashes about 12-24 hrs after taking each dose, making for a horrible night's sleep and screwing up my chart. Also, the first cycle I O'd CD 17, the next I didn't O until CD33 so I don't even think I can attribute that to the clomid..

Well it looks like you have been TTC a lot longer than I was but I know what a difficult time it is and I found it good to hear about other people's success with it! xx
