...i am still measuring small for what i should be. I have been since they started measuring me at 30 weeks but its only been about 2 weeks behind each time. This week though, i should be 38 but only measuring 34, same as 2 weeks ago. She didnt seem worried and said as i was tall (5ft 9) that can be decieving. Bubbs has also engaged 3/5ths since last time as well so she said that is another thing why i am measuring small. Has anyone else been in this situation? I was small the whole way through my last pregnancy but they sent me for growth scans the whole time and she was fine.

HI, i have only measured behind once so cant really comment, i wouldnt worry too much hun the growth scans are more effective than a tape measure, my LO is 3/5th engaged also and i measured 34.5cm and should of been 35cm so not much init! I measured small with my DD and she was fine and weighed 6lb 7oz which was fine for me!!xx

at 26 weeks i was measuring 26cm, at 32 weeks the measurements had fallen to 29cm. however, growth scan said baby is huge. i have absolutely no doubt that it's your height, and the fact that baby has engaged so much since your last appointment. i wouldn't worry but i know it's easier said than done xx

Hi hun, i have been measuring small aswell. At 32 weeks i was measuring 29cm, most recent 36 weeks measuring 32cm. My midwife said the first time (at 32 weeks) that we will see what it is 'next time' (36 weeks) and go from there, but she didnt seem concered, i thought she would send me to the hospital to get checked out but she didnt. I kept checking back with her saying 'are you sure thats ok to measure 32cm at 36 weeks' and she said it was so who am i to challenge that!!

I had an antinatal class last night and asked the midwife there for a second opinion, she said anything up to 2cm either side is absolutely fine (im 4cm different), but if i wanted to see the consultant to get booked in - i tried to do this today but the consultant works one afternoon a week and is not available until i will be 38 weeks, so not bothered to book, seems pretty pointless...I am not happy! Sorry that turned into a rant there...

If you are concerned i would get booked in to see your consultant, if nothing else it will put your mind at rest. Just wish i had done that sooner and i may have been seen

Hi there,
I too am measuring small! My bump hadn't grown between 32 and 34 weeks, according to the midwife's bump measurement so I was sent for a scan and all was 'spot on' the estimated weight of baby at 34weeks was 5lb 6oz! At my last midwife appt on Tuesday this week (36 weeks now) I am still measuring small and my midwife said she doesn't think I'll have a very big baby but as baby is engaged and because I have tight abdominal muscles (must be all those sit ups I never did before getting pregnant, ha ha!) and am quite tall, it is hard to feel the top of the womb and baby's position makes a big difference to the measurement. I am being measured again next Tuesday but am trying to tell myself that everything will be fine but it is so difficult isn't it. I figure that as long as baby is still active I need to stay reassured and think positively! Easier said than done I know!
KTP x

At my last midwife appointment at 36 weeks I was told I was very small she didnt actually tell me what my measurments were but she was concerned
I on the other hand wasnt I have already had 5 over 8lb babies and im never very big.
The midwife did ask if i was slim before i got pregnant I said yes i was a very slim size 14 :haha:

I seen the consultant today at 38 weeks and she wasnt concerned at all said babies size was fine and that all women are different.

Things have changed since i had my first 26 years ago and not all for the better what was wrong with feeling for the fundal height whats with the stupid tape measure :nope:

Thanks for your replies ladies. I havent been worried up until this week when she said i was 4cm under. I guess the fact that i was 2 weeks over with dd and she was only 7lb 8oz means that i just dont have big babies?? Thats what the midwife just kept saying anyway 'at least you wont be having a big baby'. I just want to know she is ok and the right size and the only way to know is by having a growth scan which they wont give me. :nope:

I was measuring 32 weeks when i went to see my MW at 38+2 weeks...she sent me for a growth scan and they said he was fine and weighing 6lb 8oz!! So i wouldnt worry! xx
