Does anyone know from how many weeks would an elected C-section be performed? Is it 37 or 38? (singular pregnancy!) xxx

Thanks girlies!! xxx:flower:

Thank you!! Do you know whether it makes any difference to the number of weeks if I had a preemie first time round??

Hopefully have a better idea when I see my Consultant, would like a rough due date! lol! xx

It varies. Often it is 39 weeks these days. Depends what your consultant obstetrician prefers and often how busy the hospital is!

I had a section with DS as surprise breech, totally terrified about both another section or a VBAC - but I suppose this baby has to come out some how :)

My friend is having one on the 7th April and she'll be 39 weeks. I though that was a little late but apparently because its surgery every week earlier the baby has an increase of 5-10% chance of not making it. That really shocked me tbh.

O gawd I really hope it isn't 39 weeks I can't see me going that far!! I have a feeling this one will be a preemie too :dohh:!!

You'll be fine honey, as you said they've got to come out somehow! lol! xxx

OMG really those odds seem awfully high? My little one was 33 weeks and absolutely fine, I suppose it is different for everyone!!

It used to be 38 weeks but apparantly now is 39 weeks unless medically necessary before hand xx

I also want an elected c-section. I was vaginal last time and my son has cerebral palsy. I will never know for sure why but I just feel he was a normal baby until the intense birth and I would feel better if I knew ahead of time the date I was going and that everyone knew I was coming. At the same time I would like to wait as close to my due date as possible. My last baby was 4 days late so I don't see that being a problem

I'm due on Oct 30 but my doc is scheduling me for Oct 24 c-section. I had an unplanned section with my first so I'm ok with scheduling this. But I think they try to schedule as close to your actual due date as possible.

its 39 weeks now unless there is a medical reason or you go into labour earlier so my freind told me she just had one under consultant care xx

I know, i thought that too but i suppose they dont want to take any chances do they. Chances are things will be fine but everything is a just in case.

I had DD at 38 weeks, but i had to really push for that and it was only due to me being in diabetic clinic and going nuts with worry because of my previous two late losses.

This time i have asked to try to go to 39 weeks. When DD was born her breathing was "grunty" because she was early and she had to go to special care for 7 hours. This time i want to give myself the best chance of being able to have the baby with me from the start. :)

i thought it was 38... they think i might have to have one if my placenta doesnt move & im sure she said 38 weeks... x

i had mine at 37 weeks but it was twins.. so i think thats pretty common.. i think that generally its 39 weeks or sooner only if you have an amnio to see if babies lungs are mature..

I'm due on the 23 October, saw the MW last week and she said they wouldn't let me go further than 38 weeks...see if I get that far first, stay in there little bubs!! xxx
