So my son is not 9 months and he still isn't crawling..he gets tons of tummy time..we even try to help him but he just is not interested..he'd rather roll..anyone experiencing this?

Hi,
My son started to crawl a day before turning 9 months - however he had been trying for what seemed like AGES!!!!:haha: My nephew turns 9 months in a day or 2 and is rolling everywhere and not crawling yet despite plenty of tummy time. There's also a couple of babies in my mothers group not crawling yet. I am pretty sure that everything is fine as long as they are trying to move by 11 months or so so you have nothing to worry about (although I am not sure you are even worried - maybe just curious?).
Apparenetly I bum-shuffled as a baby and not even that until 13 months and here I am reasonably normal! :haha:

im not really worried yet..just more curious, because everytime someone asks me if he's crawling and I say no they look so shocked..he just turned 9 months about 2 days ago and still no signs of crawling, he gets into the crawling position and then starts rolling, he rolls pretty fast too, we always thought he'd be a crawler early since he always tried crawling since the age of 3 months

Yeah we thought our little one would crawl by 6 - 7 months or so because of his generally high activity levels and his many attempts! I think it just depends on people's own experiences because sometimes people comment to us that Jack crawling now is "early". Also if someone had asked me what the "normal" age to crawl was before I had had kids I would have had no idea!:nope: Both my sister-in-law and mother have also shown me how easy it is to forget those milestones as both have mentioned ages that differed significantly from what they had written in their baby books.
Another thing is my lo started crawling really slowly - so if your lo can roll really fast he probably thinks he is better off doing that!!

Q crawled around the start of 9 months, I had no signs at all he wasn't even trying, lol he liked to stand all the time but I pulled him away from the coffee table, then he just crawled up to it out of no where.

My LO is just off 8 months and not crawling, but he's been rolling since 3.5
months. Just doesn't seem interested in crawling at all. People keep asking me if he's crawling yet, but it doesn't bother me as apparently I didn't crawlat
all, just went straight to walking at 10 months. I'm enjoying the relative peace and quiet!!! X

I thought my LO would never crawl! He started just after he turned 9 months. Just all of a Sudden one day he could crawl lol x

Omar was standing on 4 at around 6.5 months, doing yoga stretches, leaping forward, & sometimes crawling on hands & feet (not knees), then crawling backward. He managed to crawl properly at 9 months after trying soo hard. He had lots of tummy time when he was tiny & he used to play when he's on his tummy but he didnt crawl early. He also used to stand on his feet at 2 months & walk with assistant but he only managed to cruise at 9 months & to take few steps without support 1 week before he was one. Until now he doesnt walk properly. Babies r different hun. Some skip crawling & go directly to walking xx

Urgh I know what you mean - people look surprised when I saw LO isn't crawling, she's only 7.5 months ffs!
She doesn't roll either (but she can), she prefers sitting but can make her way (slowly) round a room although I'm not really sure how! A mixture of leaning over really far and scooting her bum a bit I think.

Crawling isn't actually a milestone though, as long as they are moving themselves by 9/10 months, so your LO is doing that x

My 3rd never crawled. They just went to walking.. she was aprox 15.5 months before she would even roll crawl or walk. She's great at talkin thou. they all do it hun. he wont go to school being unable to walk or crawl so i wouldnt worry too much just keep giving him the tummy time.. BTW do u have wood floor/carpet? we have wood floor whic i think makes it harder my LO is 8months and wants to crawl but just slides on the wood floor so just gives up!

no crawling here neither are at 10 months - both just roll around usually in a big knot of baby. Me or OH didnt crawl either

Anna is over 10 months and no sign of crawling at all.

She can roll around very quickly - roll from one side of room to the other then sit up and play there in about 5 seconds - so think she is just going to stick with the rolling!

She only just pulled herself up to standing last week and is now doing that constantly:flower:

My LO is getting around but he isn't crawling, he is up on his hands and knees but he doesn't go anywhere. He gets around rolling and pushing backwards. A friend of mine has a 10 month old who has never crawled rolled etc but he took his first steps this week, they are all so different!

My LO learnt to crawl about a week ago. :cloud9: She still can't roll from back to front but has started pulling herself up on furniture and cruising recently too. They do it when they put in enough practice on the right muscles.

My LO still doen't realise crawling can be fun which means we have time to baby proof. She crawls, grabs what she wants, then goes back to where she was! :cloud9:

my 8 month old doesnt roll or crawl :S hes just not interested in moving lol xx

Alex has just learnt to get on all fours and rocks a little bit but that's it. To be honest, once they do get on the move, you'll be wishing they weren't!! x

My LO will be 9 months this week and she isn't crawling. She rarely rolls (although she can) and although she can move about it's more random than on purpose... she sort of bum shuffles but only a little bit, or she will try to turn over and then end up facing in the opposite direction etc.

Only in the last few days, she's started to look a bit more interested in trying to crawl. She is so active though, always wriggling and she LOVES to be up on her feet and bouncing.

Finlay started crawling about 10 1/2 months and now if you look the other way his gone
