Heyy peeps had my 25 week antenatal visit today and my midwife said I have to start counting kicks now but I have an anterior placenta n dnt feel him that much anyway she knows this but totally avoided the fact I said I hardly feel him what should I doooo so confused xx

kick counting already? I didn't think we started that until 3rd tri?

That's what I've also read on Internet if you have an anterior placenta to wait until 30 weeks I was shocked she said to do it now

yeah I can't imagine doing kick counting now... I feel baby randomly throughout the day but never consistently enough to count.

kick counting starts at 24 weeks in uk but its more a as long as you feel at least 10 in 24 hrs or at least 1 in 12 hrs its fine

I have an anterior Placenta too and they told me I would start kick counting at 28 weeks and that I need to feel her kick or move at least 10 times in 2 hour period. If she goes longer than 4 days without me feeling it then I have to set up an appointment. I am only 18 weeks and 4 days today, so I have a good while to wait on that. But, they also told me to lay on my left side and increase blood flow to her. Then after about 10 minutes if I can't feel any flutters or anything, even now then try to get her to move. I know she is in there and Active as I have a Fetal Doppler. But, I am already worried about not being able to feel her 10 times in 2 hours at 28 weeks.

ive never heard of kick counting before! whats that for?

I have an AP but I still feel him pretty regularly, even I can't imagine feeling him kick 10 times in 2 hours... Maybe 10 times total throughout the day..

just to make sure baby is regularly active - sometimes we get so used to the movement that we don't notice if they haven't been active for a while (or we think they haven't been when they really have because we're so used to it!)

You try daily to record how many 'kicks' you feel in a certain amount of time.
BabyBump Pro app has a kick counter :)

I verified with the lady that educated us on it at my appointment on Tuesday. At 28 weeks they want 10 movement/kicks in a 2 hour time period. She said between now and then figure out when she is most active and start pressing firm but not to hard on my sides to understand what movements will feel like and that I may not feel it now, but it's still good to try. It may be 21 weeks before feeling actual movements she said. Then, after I figure out her most active times try to use that time as a baseline and when 28 weeks hits start counting the movements and kicks in that period of time. I am not sure if it is because I am a type 1 diabetic and they want to make sure baby stays active or what.

Ooooh okay I get it now. I was gonna say 10 movements every two hours throughout the day? Thats crazy talk lol. He's only most active in the evenings and very little in the mornings. I think I felt hiccups yesterday but I can't be positive. It's so confusing what's what, still to this day!

Yeah I don't remember feeling hiccups until far later on in pregnancy - and you'll be able to tell because the kicks start to be ridiculously uncomfortable and the hiccups feel like how the first kicks did, but regular... DS had hiccups aaaallll the time - 3-4x a day and then was the same when he was born for a few months lol.

It honestly felt like I personally had the hiccups, like I could tell another one was about to come. It was the freakiest thing I've felt so far this pregnancy and I'm not sure if that's what it was or what. But I could definitely tell if another movement was coming or not lol. So bizarre.

My book thing from the OB says to start doing kick counts at 28 weeks, but I can see how it would be different with every doctor.

If I do counts during an active time, I easily get 8 kicks in 2 hours. Most of the time in less than an hour. I've felt him from 21 weeks on.

you are close to me the standards must be the same then for Minnesota and Wisconsin on starting at 28 weeks along.

I was also told at my appointment on Tuesday that at this point if I am feeling a difference in movement to let them know and get checked out.

He has his active times, mostly when I am laying down for the evening.
