Today I was looking through our union manual, actually, to find out the procedure for vacation time...how to request etc. I decided to look up the pay rate for my job (it's a new position for me...been there just two weeks now). Anyways, when I was hired, they said it was pay rate 7, but it is actually listed in the union manual as pay rate 8. That is a dollar difference. Of course, I am doing the math in my head about the difference that is...I mean, a dollar an hour, 7 hours a day, 5 days a week...that is already 35 dollars a week. 35 a week time 52 weeks in a year...we are looking at $1820 a year...I am losing!!!! So...now it is totally bothering me...and I keep wondering, did they eff it up when they hired me, or what...they just can't change my wage that the union has agreed to??? Can they??? So....do I say something

I would talk to your manager or to HR depeding on how your company works. Are you part of the union? My husband is part of a union. He is getting his pay rise from next week but is fighting to get it backdated to when he started to take on the extra responsibilities- which the union dictates.

yes, I am part of the union. I might email the union rep...but need to find out who it is. Now they are adding another duty to my list...and it is huge!

Talk to your union Hun! It's what they are there for :)
Plus if they think you have been wronged they will help back you :)
