Afternoon ladies and bumps :flower:

I want to start knitting little girls things, im not sure what but am hoping someone can steer me in the right direction :haha:

I can knit squares, just the normal standard knit pattern.

Do you know of any websites that do a knitting for dummies that i can try knitting some boots or a hat or if they are hard to do just anythign simple ;)

Thanks
xx

Great minds Miss Bump - I have been thinking exactly the same, I can knit a square or a long rectangle using knit but nothing else.
My friend is a great knitter and makes some fantastic things and I want to be like her!!

Hopefully someone will come along soon with some advice!

Yeah i think to myself i can knit a long scarf if need be ha ha i just havnt got a clue how to do other knits or patterns.

I also have a friend who can knit and she knitted some gorgeous cardigans and her nan even knitted a beautiful blanket too!!
xx

Can you cast on and off?

To make a simple plain cardigan....all you need to know is how to cast on and off, do knit and purl stitches (which i am assuming you can) and increase and decrease.

I'm at work at the mo but when I get in I can try and write an easy guide to anything you dont know (casting on/increasing etc) and send you a plain cardigan pattern...if thats any help?

How about these - I think they're a really fab idea, especially if you're using reusable nappies - just pop them on and no need for "bottom halves" and make changing really easy too. It wouldn't be hard to do them in stripes either, or for something really cool, you could buy "sock wool" which is special wool that knits up in complicated designs like fairisle - ie the wool is pre patterned, and all you have to do is plain old straight forward knitting and purling! You can buy it on e bay.

i used this pattern

i can only really knit squares too and looking at this at first i thought, no way can i do that, dont understand what half of it even means, and it does look complicated but if you follow it bit by bit its easy enough and youtube is very handy!! loads of knitting vids, for example i wasnt sure about "knit two together" or whatever, i just put it into youtube and an easy to follow video def helped!

this is what i made

i also made a teddy https://jillmc.tripod.com/teddy.html which is easy enough, if you stick to the pattern (i got a bit lost and ended up with a short legs and a big body, but im sure baby will appreciate my effort!)

dont laugh....
