I will have to have a c-section due to LO's positioning and abnormal uterine cavity. I am ok with actually laboring if I go into labor before c-section but I am worried about laboring for several hours before c-section!

So if I happen to go into labor at 10pm, go straight to the hospital, and the OR staff and MD dont get there until 5am there technically is no risk of me laboring just the actual delivery. I do not want to be in full labor, exhausted, and going through a c-section!! I am going to talk to my MD but I am just wondering how this will all play out if I do go into labor! Anyone else have a planned section and go into natural labor? Just to compare why were you planned? How quick did they get to your c-section after you got to the hospital?

I don't have experience of my own, but my friend had her first baby by emergency caesarean (six weeks early) and the second was supposed to arrive by planned caesarean, which was booked for her due date. Unfortunately, baby number two decided to come five weeks early. She went to the hospital in labour and the anaesthetist was caught up in theatre with another c-section so she ended up having to deliver baby naturally as by the time the anaesthetist was free, baby was too far down the birth canal etc. Not sure if this helps at all, but both she and baby were fine (although she did tell me she preferred the c-section experience to the labour!).

Thanks for the response London. That's what I am worried about that someone gets caught up somewhere and it causes a big problem. A delivery of transverse baby or breech isn't done. I'm glad that ur friend was ok, and glad for my sake she preferred the section!

I know that with my baby's heart condition, they don't want him to experience the stress of labor as it could slow his heart rate even more. So, if I do happen to go into labor before my date, I'll be going into the hospital at the first little signs. I don't want to risk LO's health just to experience labor. I would ask you doctor about it. I did and she told me come straight away.

I'm not sure if i'll need a c-section yet, still have 4 weeks for baby to turn, but if i did, i think i'd be terrified if labour started first! The idea of delivering a breech baby naturally for my first sounds awful.

Yea he won't be able to turn due to my uterus. But there is no risk of me laboring per my specialist. That's what worries me! Like littleblonde! 16 hours of labor for nothing, exhausted, and then a section!?! Im not complaining about labor, and don't really care if I experience it or not. I am supposed to call right away but that doesn't mean they will section right away fromwhat others have said!
