I was diagnosed with BV on Tuesday. I've since read all kinds of terrible things on the internet regarding BV. Basically it sounds hopeless, that if you have this you will loose your baby to miscarriage or PROM. I'm freaking out now. I thought I might be in the safe zone at 18 weeks but apparently not anymore. They gave me antibiotics but many internet sites say the damage is already done after 12 weeks

My friend had it and she gave birth at 37wks to healthy b/g twins. She had it for 5 months before getting meds or even knowing that she had it. Google can be mean sometimes.

I'm sorry I can't give you advice about this, but it worries me, because my midwife only gave me a pelvic exam the first time I went and nothing since then, I worry if I catch it they will never check me and I'll lose my baby. I've had it before with no symptoms.

Hun please dont worry yourself. I had it with my son. I was givin antibiotics for it, completed those and it cleared right up. I delivered my son at 39 weeks with induction due to High blood pressure. He was born a perfect 7lb 3oz, healthy little boy. He is now 18 months old and Perfect :cloud9:

Im sure you and your baby are alright. Google is evil! :hugs:

Me! LO was born at 39 weeks and a healthy, happy baby boy

I had it at 14 weeks was given antibiotics and everything cleared up fine. im currently 23 weeks and everything is fine

Google is the root of all worry lol I'm sure baby will be fine bow that u have meds x x

Can they pick up BV from urine tests?

OP, I wish you and your baby the best x x

I had it with my daughter and delivered her perfectly healthy on her due date! Just take your antibiotics hun and it will clear right up.

STAY AWAY FROM GOOGLE!!!! x

I had it very very early in my pregnancy and they gave me antibiotics and my son is doing just fine. On his 20 weeks scan he was absolutely perfect. I wouldnt worry as long as you were given antibotics then you shouldnt worry.:hugs:

First and foremost, this is a question for your doctor, so give them a call tomorrow to put your mind at ease.

Chances are that if you were prescribed antibiotics it has cleared up already. In the meantime, drink plenty and plenty of water and some cranberry juice..

You can also ask your doc to prescribe a gel or something to freshen up the cells in your vagina for future reference.

And last but not least,

STAY AWAY FROM GOOGLE.

You can't believe how much damage it did to me during the first trimester. I bet you're absolutely fine hon. From what I've read, BV could lead to preterm labour, not that it always does, and since pregnancy leaves your body vulnerable to all sorts of infections, I highly doubted that most women that had it lost their babies.

I'm sure you're LO is doing GREAT.

What if you have it, but you have no idea you do? I had it once a couple years ago, and had no idea (thought it was just a yeast infection and was using cream and pills and symptoms went away) come to find out, I had it for a few months! But what if you aren't showing symptoms and the doctors never check for it....

May I know the symptoms for BV? I never heard about this. I'm so sorry to hear that you have this. I'm praying you and your LO will be OK through this pregnancy :hugs:

The symptoms of my BV were pale yellow discharge, thats it. No odor, no irritation. Im calling my doctor tomorrow to see if they will make me an appointment to get retested to see if it has cleared up for now. I read so many bad things today online. Ive spent the better part of an hour now emailing my husband. I told him not to bother buying any baby stuff after the things ive read today.

Many websites say that its the leading cause of miscarriage in the second trimester. I just dont know what to do anymore. I thought i was in some type of safe zone. I have so many clothes for our little one already, and he was the only thing holding me together while my husband is deployed. I just feel like ive lost this battle already. I cant help but thinking that its my fault that i got it, and i did this to him.

Don't get your hopes down, hun :hugs: As you know there are a lot of women that have BV and proceed to have healthy pregnancies. I have some discharge lately, I might have to ask my Ob about it in my next appointment. I feel scared too now ... lol. especially now that I can feel him moving and kicking, I bond a lot with him.

No, no, no, seriously, DON'T DO THIS TO YOURSELF. Your baby's just fine! So many ladies here told you they had it and gave birth to healthy babies, why do you have to believe the worst?

Seriously, google can do so much damage. You can't trust it more than your doctor, it doesn't make any sense. Do you have any symptoms of preterm labour? NO. Are you bleeding? NO. And yes, your baby is big enough to be better protected from these things. This is why you were prescribed anti-biotics, because your baby can now take it.

Plus, I think that's what the mucus plug is there for. Wait to speak to your doctor and then panic, okay?

You'll be FINE.
