late period and cramps

I am about 4 weeks late for my period. My last period was on November 16, 2011. I've had my normal pms symptoms for the past six weeks and taken tons of pregnancy tests all of which were negative. I've scheduled a doctor's appointment but I was just curious if anyone else has missed two periods with pms symptoms and what was your outcome? I've had on and off cramps for a while. The week that my period was due in December I experienced very light cramps every day for over a week, and yesterday they started again. It's a very dull sort of ache in my lower abdomen it doesn't hurt really but it's a little irritating. Any experience or thoughts would be helpful while I am waiting for my appointment. I am breastfeeding my DS who will be turning 1 this week. My period returned 8 weeks pp but only became regular in June, so my cycle was regular June-November and since then nothing.

Thanks for your reply. I've been trying to get my appointment moved up. I couldn't get anything sooner than 5 March. A friend told me that I can just request a blood test though so I will do that Monday. Anything beats obsessing.
