latent labour

hi ladies, as you may have read i had a show on saturday morning then on sunday had a bright red bleed so when to dau and had a overnight stay so that they could monitor it had a little bit more blood but nothing major and doc discharged me saying im in latent labour and it should start properly in the next 2-3 days. what i was wondering if anyone else has had this and how long it took for you to go in to labour. i think im having contractions at 5 ish mins apart at the mo but they arent painfull and i had this the other day and they stopped after a few hours. x

I reckon you shouldn't be too long now.
The same thing happened to my with my 3rd child.. had a show on the wednesday and a bleed. Irregular contractions which weren't particularly painful.. more annoying than anything.. but enough that I couldn't sleep or eat. I ended up going in on the friday night as I'd had enough. Didn't think I'd be in established labour as my contractions were all over the place, with no pattern to them and some were stronger than others... but it turned out I was 4cms dilated! I stayed in and was allowed painkillers etc.. had her in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Only advice I can say is...... try and stay active. I spent most of wed, thurs and friday just pottering around.. cleaning.. doing a bit of shopping to try and keep things going. But don't tire yourself out! Even if you can't sleep (which I couldn't).. I had plenty of soothing baths and laid on my bed and just rested with my eyes closed. Try and keep your energy levels up as well by eating little and often. Toast, fruit etc.. as hunger and tiredness can actually slow labour down or even stop it.

ah thank you im bouncing on my ball at the mo, aznd been walking round the shops this morning just had quite a painfull one. i hope it isnt too long i hate just waiting.
