lemsip chesty cough?

    I am 6 weeks pregnant and my doctor told me not to take any medicine but paracetamol.
    I have a really bad sore throat and my mum said i should take lemsip chesty cough but im not sure if its safe:nope:.
    What do you guys think?
    Advice...please?

    Does it suggest it's safe for pregnancy in the box, if not give a wide birth and have a big spoon of honey. That always worked for me. X

    i would avoid it hun as im sure its not recomended in pregnancy.
    paracetemol and warm drinks with honey to soothe your throat :hugs:

    Nope it doesnt say anything about pregnancy.
    And thankyou hun, i wont take it . Ill just wait this out:cry:

    Hot water with honey and lemon is good and safe in pregnancy - not quite lemsip but it may help. I hope you feel better soon x

    Hi there the safety of guaifenesin has not been established in pregnancy so you should avoid it. Paracetamol should work well. Also try gargling with salt water and boiled sweets like soothers can help. If it's really bad you should see your gp to check if you have an infection. Guaifenesin is an expectorant so it won't help with a sore throat anyway. All it does is liquify mucus. Also honey like the other ladies mentioned is good too. Try mixing with warm water.
