I'm reading a new book and one of the minor characters is called Lena. I think I really like the name but I'm just wondering what others think..?

Lena is a famous person's name pronounced lee-nuh.
lay-nuh would be spelled more like Laina I would imagine

I had a good friend named Lena and she pronounced it Lee-na. The only other Lena I can think of is from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and it's pronounced Lee-na in the movie as well.

Unfortunately my friend Lena turned out to be SUPER crazy and horrible so I have a terrible association with the name now. But I loved it before!

I love it and I pronounce it Len-ah. If you want to name your baby Len-ah, just do it. When ppl ask how do you spell that, you can always say L-e-n-a. If someone sees the name written and tries to pronounce it Lee-nah, then you correct them. I've a foreign/exotic name and it always happens to me... But it also happens with common names spelled differently all the time, like Anthony, Antony, Antoni, Antonie... Same pronunciation different spelling ...

Iv only ever known one Lena and she was a bit nuts. I might like it if it werent for the negative association. Im not sure if i like the harsh sound "ee" in the middle of the name when i pronounce it x
