I didn't know this so just wanted to share with you all....apparantly the scan pictures will fade over the years so worth photocopying them as keepsakes.
Not sure how true this is. My mom still has ultra sound/ scan picture of my brother and my brother is almost 21 now, and they still look as clear as mine do.
I'd say - don't take the chance. My mom gave me some of my sisters scan pics because I couldn't be there during most of her pregnancy. My sister is 11 now and I went back into the albums I have of that time a couple weeks ago. All the scan pictures are almost blank. You can't tell they were ever a scan pic at all. Very sad over this!!! And the albums are acid/lignin(sp?) free - the pictures are all perfect.
My scan tehnician told me not to photocopy or scan them because the bright light during the copying process causes the ink to fade. She recommended that I take a photo of the scan pics, then print off as many copies as I liked. Has worked nicely for me - plus it was easier to distribute pics to family via email.
Thanks so much for sharing this, i would be sad to have them fade and will hunt out my 5 year old sons now and take a pic.. hoping they havent already faded xx
I took photos the day I had my scan haha. I might scan one into the computer anyway... I bought an extra one by accident so it won't really matter if one of them fades. Worth it to keep the memory forever
