little worried, is this nightmares?

Leo is 8 weeks old and for the last couple of weeks he has been randomly waking up screaming! it doesnt happen every day, probably once every three days and is only in the day. so far it hasnt happened at night.

he will be fast asleep and then suddenly just start crying...but proper sobs and real tears! its heartbreaking. i pick him up and try and comfort him but for a couple of minutes he is inconsolable. then he will either fall back asleep or just be awake but for about 10 minutes after keeps doing those little hiccups that you do when you have been crying a lot

anyway i was just wondering if any one else has experienced this? i thought it could be nightmares but he seems a bit young for this????

I'd say too young for nightmares. Most likely trapped wind or a bit of reflux causing some sudden discomfort and then passing after a couple of minutes. I wouldn't worry if it is only occassional rather than repeatedly throughout the day.

my lo does this now and then. Have no idea why but have asked other mummy friends and it seems quite common. Jx

My LO does this occasionally to, she will be deeply asleep and will suddenly start really crying. Doesent happen often but it is heartbreaking when she does it.

Mine has only started doing this and he's nearly 8 months. Just comfort when you can. They all seem to do it.
