I originally wanted to use my surname as a second middle name but am definitely using Rose as a middle name for a girl and do not like how Liv Rose flows. So, I can either add another middle name to honor a family member (was considering a version of helen or elizabeth) or use a longer name than liv as it does seem short to some for a formal first name. I like Livia a lot but worry it is just too close to the very popular Olivia. So, instead I was considering Lydia and as a little girl can call her Lyddi. I think it is sweet but strong and substantial

My husband does like Liv a lot (though he is fine with Lydia too). He also likes Elle/Ellie so thought using L.E. for initials could possibly give his Ellie nickname ("L-E"). Also, if we name our daughter Liv I plan on calling her Livvi as a little girl so again, "Liv-E" would be nice. Please help by looking over my Liv combos or telling me if you prefer Lydia with my surname included (Kessul) or any other thoughts/options you can think of whether it be a first name or different middle name.

Thanks in advance! Oh, and Beaty is pronounced "Bee-dee"

Liv E___ Rose Beaty
Elowen
Elka
Eleni or Elena
Ella
Eliza (though said outloud it sounds like "live a lie" which I don't like)
Emiko (means smiling child in Japanese)
Esme
Eila (version of Isla which is a name hubby likes)
Ember
Emelia

Lydia Rose Kessul Beaty

Which do you prefer, Liv or Lydia?

I like Elena Rose Beaty the best -- nn "Ellie" if your OH wants...

I also really like Ember & Esme as first names...

Livia, nn. Livvi is cute too! (Livia Elani Rose Beaty sounds really pretty!)

Not personally fond of the name Lydia, just my opinion though...

Stick with Liv! It's such a fresh, pretty name. I think the addition of the E name balances out the Rose perfectly. I liked several of your choices.
But I liked Liv most of all! :)

Thanks girlies. I think we are leaning toward Liv because husband goes back and forth on Lydia. Now it is a matter of finding a good flow... which middle name, listed, or of your own do you think would work for
Liv _____ Rose Beaty

The only other option at this point I think is Mireille but I worry about how Americans would pronounced this. I could spell it Mirae.

As of now, those will be our top 2 and we have Willow and Scarlett on the backburner in case she ends up looking like one of those!

Thanks in advance :)

umm i think lydia is lovely.... but i LOVE willow... a few days ago i suggested willow to my oh but he didnt lik it but i love it

Thanks Wriggley. I agree it is a beautiful name but as Willow is for you, Lydia has become for me - DH isn't sure he likes it though he did before... he may flip again but for now leaning toward Liv. Hopefully we can find something we both like! :)

I have an Olivia and we call her Liv- I do not hear of alot of other children named Olivia- especially not called Liv... It does seem strange to me for Liv to be just the name IDK- Liv Carter, I think you need a very strong name for a middle name to get away with it- Liv Isabella- but Isabella is popular too?
Names that were on my list that we are not using are
Maren
Zoe
Celia (keeping this as a back up)
Eden
Lola
Quinne
Mia
Carter-Elizabeth

we decided on Sadie Elizabeth

I think I like Liv Elowen Rose best. I like the balance of the three syllable name with the stronger one-syllable names on either side, and I like the flow of it - a slight alliteration with the "l" sound. It's unique, but it's not weird.
Liv is short for Olivia in English, but it is its own name in Scandinavia. Think of the actress, director Liv Ullman, for example. I think it holds its own nicely.
Olivia is now in the top 10 most popular list in Canada.

I like them both a lot... I really like the idea of Liv as a name without Olivia - It's cute!
