It's always on the way home from somewhere and I feel terrible about it :( I rarely stop because it makes no difference, she just starts crying again as soon as we're moving so I figured its better we get home ASAP. It's probably because she's tired but I feel awful her having to cry herself to sleep in the car. She's never been one of those babies who just dozes off in the car, she's only ever done it a handful of times.

Anyone else been through this? Can't just be me:(

:hugs: I know it's horrible, but there's not much you can do in a car :( We're lucky in that my husband drives and I sit in the back with Holly trying to entertain her, but even then she's still crying. When my MIL sat in the back with her last time she visited she took Holly out of her car seat  Luckily she saw a police car and put her back in! I was livid, she's always telling me to let LO cio but the one time you actually need to leave them to cry and she goes and picks her up! :nope:

Oops sorry for the rant! It's upsetting when they cry in the car, but there's not much you can do due to the safety of it :(

Jordyn started crying in the car there isn't much that can be done.. us its always because she loses her suckie... we some times pull over and give it to her ( if we can) cant pull over on the side of the highway!

Yeah when oh is driving I usually sit in the back with her but when I'm on my own I can't be in two places at once, I don't think she likes her car seat very much so I'm looking forward to when she grows out of it lol.

It's the worst isn't it :( not your fault though. This is what really worries me about a trip we're going to possibly be making his summer.

I live on the south coast in Weymouth and my grandparents live in Kendal and want us to go visit when LO will be 10/11 months :/ scary!! xx

I'm in the car alone with lo a lot- sometimes she cries and I just keep going. Stopping prolongs it in my experience. Usually just overtired :hugs:

Oh yeh! Every time he's due a feed! There not in pain don't worry!

My dd was the type when she was ready for a nap or for bed she would cry no matter who held her, riding in the car or not she wanted to be in her bed and that was that. So there was a few times we waited to late to leave somewhere and she would cry the whole way home, it's heart breaking bc it's not their fault but sometimes it happens.
With my newest lo I think he sleeps better in his carseat then anywhere else.

Have you tried attaching a mirror to the back seat so lo can see themself / out the window? Or attaching toys to the car seat?

my son has always hated his car seat and i'm pretty immune to his tears by now. i give him toys and then just drive and do about my business. he has lots of years left in a car seat so he's going to just have to get used to it. stopping constantly just indulges him at this point. your current situation is a lot different than mine, since she is so young! good luck!

Yeah she has a car seat toy attached, doesn't really pay much attention to it yet though! She had gotten a lot better to be fair, she used to scream before we even got to the car as we were getting her strapped in. Seems like its pretty common though, you only ever seem to hear about how babies just sleep in the car!

My LO cries in the car almost every time. Rarely on short trips (10 mins or so) she won't cry. But normally it starts 2 minutes or so down the road an continues until we get to where we're going.

James usually loves the car, like I believe it's his favourite place to be lol but when he's overtired at night when I'm driving home from my mums he full scale erupts, so bad that he chokes..... It's soo awful. I told my mum I'm never taking him out late again. It's not fair.

Your not the only one, xxxxx

My LO used to do that and I hated it. I used to pull over every two seconds etc...I brought a toy that attaches across her car seat and that helped a bit...also think just become a but immune to the crying now!!!! Pick a good cd and sing along to drown it out!! :)

Sophia has started to get really upset in the car, it's upsetting as there is nothing I can do about it while I'm driving!

To think the car used to send her to sleep!

Does your baby have a dummy? If they do try using a dummy clip. They make it easier to find the dummy if you stop at the lights etc. Also a baby music cd loaded into the car, could help distract them. Mine went through a stage of crying every time we slowed below 25m/phr. Before that it would make him sleep. Now he happily plays or looks out the window before nodding off in longer journeys. When he cries I just sing his favourite songs until he's calm.

Oh it's horrible! DD was terrible in the car when she was younger, I couldn't go on long journeys cause they were just horrendous, thankfully she's loads better now. I got much better when she was more aware and I started playing nursery rhymes in the car for her.

Thankfully my son is much better, tends to sleep most of the journey.

I told my grandma today that Josalyn hates car rides. She said its because I hold her too much! Ugh. I hate that response!!!

She's cried on pretty much every car ride since she was 3 days old! Had I already been holding her too much by the time she was 3 days old?!

And my mom agrees! Grrrr...

Ah it's sad isn't it :( my LO has done this a few times. I used to pull over and try and feed him but now he just squirms out of my arms and cries more so I just try and get home ASAP. I try singing to him and sometimes it works but if he's too far gone there's nothing I can do.

When we got a big car seat Coen started doing much better. Have you considered getting a convertible one? You'll have to buy one eventually so you might as well do it now if it'll help. Mine does from 5 lbs to 100 pounds. It rf til 40 lbs. it's diono radian
