Hello - this is my first post in Baby Club! :flower: and Im very happy to be here!

Hope its not TMI

Had c-section a week ago and have only really had light bleeding until now - Just like a light period, (very light on some days - practically nothing at all) however today DH and I took Lottie out for a walk in the pram and while we were standing talking to some friends I felt a big gush of blood. We came straight home and on the way I felt myself pass something really big - there was nothing in my pad apart from blood but when I got up after having a wee a massive clot of blood dropped onto the bathroom floor and gave me a big shock!!! It was almost like a small piece of liver! (really sorry - TMI)

Since then LO has been asleep and I lay on the sofa to rest - when I got up just now I felt another gush.

Is this normal? The blood is red.... Im not great with blood and its a bit yucky! Just not sure whats normal and what isnt?

It's not unusual to get a lot of blood loss after activity but I'm not sure about the clot. When are you seeing your MW next? I would mention it then.

I would mention it to your M/W hun as mine told me if I was passing anything larger than a 50p coin in size to get it checked.

I didnt bleed much like you unless I overdid it. Maybe take it easy for a few days but definatly get that clot checked xxx

If it's bigger than a 2p coin you should get it checked... not sure where you should go though... GP or hospital xx

It's normal to get heavy bleeding, but as others have said I would get checked out due to the clot.

BTW welcome on over its nice to see another familiar face lol

I had this & had it again when I had my first period.
They thought it may be retained placenta, as (TMI) I had bits falling out for days!
They gave me pills for an infection and I was fine.

It was definately bigger than a 50p or 2p but smaller than a golf ball. I guess it was about the size of the yoke of a fried egg if that makes sense? It was yukky! :(

Im going to go to the toilet in a minute to see if anything else appears and if so Ill think about going to the hospital. Im having my staples out on Friday so I can ask then.

Hope it stops!

First, congrats on your little girl! Second, I think it is OK, but I would ask at your Friday appointment. I had a C-section too and the bleeding was on and off for some time with a few clots here and there. The biggest one was when I was in the hospital and it was at least golf ball sized and the nurses were not at all concerned. I've heard that retained placenta hurts like crazy so if you are having pains make sure to mention that to your doctor/mw. Again, congrats!

I havent had any more clots and the bleeding has slowed down now - I think its a warning as Ive probably been doing far too much - going out and about, doing housework etc etc etc as I have been feeling ok apart from today Im feeling quite tired. Its my own fault and DH has instructed me to sit on the sofa and do nothing but feed and cuddle Lottie. :)

I am still bleeding after my section but it has been minimal and really on and off. I swear I haven't bled anough to fill a whole pad in 3 weeks! But the one time I have felt like I was leaking and thought I was gonna bleed everywhere was when I walked into town. My midwife said this was totally normal when you are a bit more active.

I also had the biggest bloodclot when I was in hospital and the midwives said it was a build up from where I had been laying down for 24 hours.

I haven't had any big clots and although the blood has been red it has seemed very watery? It will do no harm to ask about the clot to make sure it isn't anything horrid but I am sure it is fine and normal x x
